Loot A bit of a dilemma on the looting behalf

A thought recently dawned on me about looting in the beta version of TLOPO. Obviously, with TLOPO being a free-to-play game, there are going to be less servers. This makes sense, as not many pirates are going to be left over from POTCO anyway.
However, most pirates spend their time concentrated in certain areas, especially looting spots. This will make it harder to find empty looting spots, and we all know how many "please leave"'s we've gotten before.
Either the looters will have to adapt to sharing spots with lots of pirates (Invincibility bubbles are key) or the devs will have to create more spots in the Cursed Caverns and El Patron's Mine concentrated with enemies. As nice as that would be, it could also make looting too easy. What do you think about this problem? Do you have any alternate solutions? Let me know!

I have a somewhat solution to this.

They could do what Dungeons & Dragons did and make caves/interiors/wilds instanced so that you can only see members of your party with you.

The only drawback is - the only way to meet people would be in town and it would take away from the social aspect.

The good thing - its code is similar to that of a SP game, so if the servers come down, you can still host and play with your friends.

I like the idea of having instanced areas but i feel like you should be able to choose, Im not sure how heavily that would impact the servers though.

What if when you went to play from the launcher you had an option to join a multiplayer server or join a single player instance of the world. You would then be playing in the potco world by your self but you your stats and character info would get updated to the main the server. You could then play in single player when you wanted some alone time and then when you want to go hang out with friends or guild members you join the multiplayer servers.

A game that I have seen that does something similar to this is windward. Players can play in a single player world but they then can take their characters into a multiplayer world.

I don't think a singleplayer mode would work well, in an MMORPG the social aspect should always be there. If players want to be by themselves they can just go on a quiet server or set their ship to private.

It would work well for players looking to hang out in a spot and just loot with out having anyone else interfere. Players would still have to go to the multiplayer servers to experience most of the game.

I do think that some time in the future when no one wants to host a server for POTCO anymore that the game could be made into a download for computers like single player games. That way once the community has died players can at least have a single player version of it downloaded on their computer. That way things don’t end up like they are now where really no-one has access to the game.

This thought has been brought up multiple times in the past, and if I remember correctly the verdict was that there would be copyright issues involved when distributing all those files. But I don't really wanna discuss that..

The most concentrated areas in my experience were those where the potential for looting famed and cursed weapons were. I would have loved to spend more time looting the bosses on the Spanish and French Isle, when they were introduced as well as Darkhart but he never dropped cursed weapons so I kept to the caves.
A solution would be to have those enemies potentially drop high level famed and cursed weapons so that people could spread out a little more across the Caribbean in the hope of finding the highest stat weapons in the game.

You bring up a good point. What if instead of making other islands drop cursed blades, the devs introduced one or two new cursed blade islands with good spots?
