Idea A Powder Keg Grenade

What if we had a different type of grenade that was a powder keg? It could use a similar model to the Powder Keg Runner but the barrel could be smaller. This would give grenades a wider variety than just having the regular grenades and the snow covered grenades as weapons. Also to clear up any confusion i'm talking about a powder keg as a inventory weapon and not the ammo grenades.

I have a few different ideas for the powder keg and what it could be. The powder keg could be listed as a "Powder Keg" adding a new weapon type to grenades. Kegs could work like how the broadsword type works for the swords category, being bigger but slower with greater attack damage and mobbing capability, but in this case blast range. The damage could be something like 25 instead of 10 like the regular grenade type has. Another idea for the the powder keg is that it could just be listed as a regular grenade instead of being a unique type but have the keg barrel model, having the pirate hold the barrel on their shoulders like the Keg Runners.

The powder keg could come in different rarities like rare, famed, and/or legendary. Each keg would have different passives and skills according to its rarity or type. An example would be a rare powder keg giving +1 Demolitions and +1 Siege Charge, Famed giving +2 or +3 and so on. One thing that all the powder kegs would share is a special skill, unique to them. The special skill they would have could be called "Powder Keg". The skill would work by your pirate throwing a powerful keg that deals a large amount of damage while knocking down enemies hit by the blast but in return dealing a decent amount of damage to yourself. Of course the skill would have a cooldown to prevent it from becoming overpowered but that shouldn't affect it's usefulness.

As we know, there is currently no grenades that can be looted in loot containers and the only other special grenade (Snow covered) is only obtainable from a holiday redeem code; so I think this could add a realm of possibilities with new grenades being able to be looted or being a special redeem event code to add variety to the lacking of different grenades.

Let me know what you guys think of this idea of having a powder keg in Tlopo!

I’m all for new grenade types, but concidering how much damage they already do, idk if increasing the damage is necessary. Perhaps only make new grenades with points to skill attributes like you said.
Yes, this is a very good point. Having the keg as a skill instead of a weapon itself is not a bad idea either.

The only reason I say no damage increase is because, since there is only one grenade, idk what an increase in damage will do; whether or not if it will be too over powered.

I am definitely for new grenades for different purposes

This post was ahead of its time. Idk about the stats, but keg grenades are epic

This would be an interesting thing to have I wouldn't think the need a damage boost otherwise whoever uses it would die whenever they threw it..
 
There were 4 lootable grenades in the holiday event plus the Valentines Quest one and they were/are really nice. The keg certainly has possibilities, I feel it could be great or it could be too OP, much would depend on the details. I'm wondering if a keg should be something you don't throw but place, light fuse, and run maybe?
 
Interesting... be neat to have different types grenades. Like the heart grenades maybe instead of acting like regular grenade, but instead hearts exploded. Also the peppermint nades bunch peppermints just came out. That be neat!
 
This is a neat idea. But I agree more with the idea of having a "powder keg" skill like other people here have suggested. It would be similar the "desolation" skill for staff. It would definitely have to do damage to the player using it. I even think it would be cool to make it do damage to players in the proximity. I have this vision of players sending keg warnings in the chat in order to clear the area.
 
Without reading the novel atop the page, I'm thinking siege charges are basically powder kegs, except they're round, and you can fir 'em in yer belt.

I was thinking that a keg could be a placed weapon that behaves like a huge grenade, friendlys block effect and damage you if you're too close when it goes off. And that they could be much more powerful than siege charges as long as there were limits to how many you could use quickly, maybe 10 in an ammo pouch and none in loot drops thus forcing you to purchase more a the gunsmith's when you run out. You would place the charge, light the fuse, and run or get KOed and have a friend revive you if the enemy is of the type to chase you or maybe some way to keep the enemies from aggro while you place your charges?
