Suggestion Ability to mod phase files on the finished version.

Yeah, sounds crazy, but I used to do this back in old POTCO. I remembered how I replaced my sword clash sound with a duck quack at one point and joined in the middle of an invasion.
QUACK QUACK QUACK
It would be awesome if we could have the ability to do this again, and maybe even mod the game models.

thatd be pretty funny

You can modify phase files now! (Staff if you have a problem with this please let me know and I'll remove this reply.)

First of all, for anyone who doesn't know what phase files are, they're client-side resources that as you might have guessed, are accessed by the client. Due to this editing them will ONLY change things on YOUR game/computer.

I would suggest reading this http://toontownrewritten.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_Edit_Toontown_Rewritten's_Phase_Files (Because I'm too lazy to write it all out). The path to the TLOPO phase files are: C:/TLOPO/Resources/default

Have fun!

this is a joke thread.. right? or is this some indirect way saying that their emulator can't escape the hackers? lol sly

I don't think you quite understand what this thread is about. No, this is not a 'joke' thread neither is editing phase files an avenue for hackers. Like I stated above, phase files are client-side specific and therefore editing them will not effect any player apart from the player who edited them. On top of that, that game itself depends on certain 'parts' of phase files, so if they were removed/edited the game would simply crash/not launch.

so sides from making a sword go quack.. what would you personally, 799, edit?

and what do hackers modify in order to get the upper hand?

You can edit a lot of things, like I said Phase Files are resources used by the client. For example I could make my sword a balloon and I could make jolly roger a cat however, these would only appear for me and no one else. Me personally, I wouldn't edit the phase files as I like my game to be 'vanilla' however, some people (Like the person who made this thread) like to modify their game on the client side (Think of it as installing a texture pack for Minecraft.) In order for hackers to gain the upper hand, they can do two things. The first is exploit the client by either injecting code or exploiting existing code (You can also modify the game environment using things like cheat engine), what a hacker can do by injecting/exploiting code is very limited as TLOPO/Disney would have taken several steps to insure that their client can't be 'hacked' so easily. The second type of exploit would be a custom client, this is the most effective way of hacking TLOPO but it is also one of the most difficult. If a player was able to connect to TLOPO with a custom client they would be able to do many, many (bad) things. However, Astron (The server) requires certain data to be sent before it will accept any sort of exchanging of info (That's why it's one of the most difficult ways of hacking.) I've obviously simplified a lot of what I've said but that pretty much sums everything up.

Problem becomes people might want to take screenshots of the modifications they do present in-game and if TLOPO doesn't necessarily agree with people doing such modifications, such evidence presents a side of TLOPO to which was not intended (causing both a 'unrealistic' and 'un-exact' representation of TLOPO's image to be presented to the general public at-large). Therefore, I feel it shouldn't be done unless TLOPO explicitly agrees that people could do so.
