Alpha testers?

Since there are only around 700 people with beta keys, that means that only there are less then 700 with an alpha key. I think it would be a good idea to give alpha testers a special badge in the game or maybe a prize, etc...

If I remember correctly, in January 2016 it was stated that over a thousand keys had been handed out. This was said in IRC by a former developer. By now this number must be way larger since this happened over a year ago.
What about like alpha testers from 2015? :winner:

There is almost 100,000 accounts registered, so 1,000 people with beta keys, doesn't seem like a lot when the full release comes out, because more players would be playing the game as the game grows out. So I feel like the 1,000+ with beta keys, should maybe get some sorta badge.

UPDATE:
Almost 4,000 keys have been handed out.

Other Fun Numbers:
88,111 - Amount of Registered Accounts
698 - Record of Players Online

A badge - what for? Key users are individuals who won a prize by chance - plus many users have participated in alpha and beta testing without earning a key.

Many arguments can be held such as the fact that many non-key users have contributed to the game’s development while some key users have not - so why is one party less worthy of an honorary icon?

I’d rather not have founders badges (or similar concepts) reintroduced to the game. In order to prevent dividing the community and making people upset, I think it would be better to completely get rid of the founder badge concept. The original founders died when POTCO died.

I disagree with you guys. I think that the players who get keys are lucky enough being able to play with their friends, grind, and just generally play the game more. I think that's enough reward.

Plus - I know personally I spent a good amount of time on giveaway stuff and time in the irc and wasn't fortunate enough to get a key, so maybe it's best not to give anyone other than staff members founder badges.

We're all testers here. We're all here for the same purpose, which is to enjoy the game we love! I think a badge might make some people upset who also care about the game and make a great effort to improve it, but were not fortunate enough to get one.

Well we should make it active beta testers, and people didnt dig for alpha keys

We should have alpha keys because alpha keys couldnt be received through digging. It wouldnt divide the community I think. And we can make it just the active alpha key players.

There's no way to please everybody here, and I think it's best left alone, so nobody feels bad or anything :)

Well it shows your actively. Theres going to be those people that don't beleive that you were in alpha, and i would love to prove that i was!

What about two years down the road, when people want to prove they were active beta testers because they used the queue system? They'll point to the alpha guys and say "Well they got badges! Why not us?". I just think we should leave it be. :)

Yes - but what’s the point of the badge? How is it going to alleviate your play experience? Personally, I believe that it’s more of a cosmetic feature players want to have.

This may be a harsh hypothesis but I think that it kind of brings the worst out of people, as topics such as this act as a reminder that people only care about themselves.

You’re an alpha key owner - you want all alpha key owners to receive the badge. Beta key owners would like the same. Testers would like the same. And unsung heroes who might have assisted in the game’s development (no matter how big or small their assistance was) would also like the same.

This was a prevalent issue with founders during back when POTCO was online. Some acted as elitists (as many will if it becomes reintroduced).

As it is of no true meaning or value and there will be many heated discussions regarding its return, I'd rather not have it.
