Anyone else receiving poor performance?

Hey friends!

I just recently signed up to relive some childhood memories :)
I noticed the game can get kinda choppy at most times- medium crowds at Tortuga port, crewing on mat runs, etc.. FPS will generally hover at 20-30FPS but often dips lower, especially when at sea on a full ship. My hardware is a GTX 1080, 16GB RAM, i9-8950HK, so I can't imagine that's the issue. I also noticed whenever I switch from windowed to fullscreen, my refresh rate drops from my monitors 240hz to 60hz. I'm not tearing my hair out over it, but just wanted to confirm if it's something on my end or just the general state of the game atm

Thanks for your help! :D

Yes, the game doesn't have that great of performance. I run on a GTX 1070 and an i5 and have similar performance, or slightly lower, to what you say. Everyone else experiences this too hardware makes very little difference for TLOPO 1-2 fps differences at the higher end at the most. (Though running on an integrated graphics card is much worse - to be expected).

If you're interested some performance updates are being developed and tested on the private test server (invite only currently), and from my testing it improved fps by around 30-40% which is huge. There's still things to be improved, worked on, and fixed so theres no expected release date unfortunately. Things are constantly being improved and updated as well (so much so that the video I linked is already somewhat outdated due to another performance improvement). But its something to look forward to someday.

Also, theres currently a bug where resizing your window will essentially half your FPS. This probably includes switching fullscreen/windowed. So don't do that if at all possible.

Very helpful info, thank you! Your response was quick!
The video you linked was a nice reference to see the changes being made. The team's making nice progress. I'll keep the bug in mind going forward to stabilize my experience, but I'm glad to know all is operating normally atm.

You can change the size of your screen in the log in screen where you see all your pirates. But if you change it after that, that is when it messes with the fps. So any changes in size you want to make, do it before you get into the game itself.
