anyone know anything about cameras?

Like the title says anyone know anything about cameras and photography in general? I am looking to get into it but i have no idea the difference between a polaroid or a nikon (well i do but not as far as taking good pics) I found a cheap camera on here that i can afford but not even sure its what i should be buying.

tl:dr
I don't know crap about photography and want help.

Best Buy is overpriced in my opinion. If you have a military ID or a friend with one I'd suggest going to your closest military base and buying one there.

See if corey could share some tips ... he takes good pictures and we could really see the progression from when he just started, until when he got the hang of it.

I've also been facing this question lately, too. I hate the digital camera I have because the quality is somewhat blah and it doesn't take very good people pictures. My friend gave me a link to this website and I found it pretty helpful. So far, my favorite is the FujiX100. But like Matthew said, you have to be prepared to pay a lot. I looked on Ebay and Amazon for some used Fujis and itwas still in the thousands. I personally thing the best cameras are the sort of old fashioned ones with the huge lenses(but the modern ones). I'm still searching, myself. I don't want to make my wallet cry too much. :'(

Somewhat change of topic but whats the deal with instagram. It turns your photos into old pieces and tries to play it off as unique and cool. We have digital cameras because we want hd pics.

Also I wouldn't recommend ebay but if you had to choose between ebay or amazon I'd go with amazon.

well shiver before you decide on what type of camera you get you must decide what you are going to be PRIMARILY taking pictures of. as in action shots, plants, animals, microshots(tiny stuff), underwater, people, low light, bright light, ETC. after you decide that i can give you a much better idea on what I (not all people will have the same opinion) on what i think you should get. also a price range <------- thats a biggie as well. and then if i dont know i have lots of books i can reference. http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/index.htm http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/products/professional_cameras/digital_slr_cameras these are your higher priced cameras.http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/products/professional_cameras/pro_ps_digital_cameras these are some "cheaper" ones. http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/coolpix/performance/p510/ this would be almost ideal for a novice if you can afford something like this. i personally use a http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/digital_cameras/powershot_sx130_is and it is very good for the cost. you can look at the pictures in my album and for only around $230 i would say it cant be beat. most of the blurries are because of me. just type back so i can help you more. and just to add i will soon be back to taking and uploading my pictures soon once it isnt 200 billion degrees outside

corey Well I guess I will start out with natury type stuff..you know just like random things I see around. Since I am just now thinking about getting into it I haven't really put a ton of thought into what I would actually be shooting I just thought I would get a camera and go make pictures. I checked out the pics in your album. Its really good work. I looked at the p510 you suggested and i think that is what i am gonna go with, I might swing by barnes and nobles and pickup a photography book to for the hell of it

if you do get a photography book get complete photography by national geographic. i own it and have learned SO much from reading it. it talks about literally everything a photographer should know and gives tons of examples. and check walmart before you buy they carry or can order almost any camera you want and from looking at them i cant find better prices. and good choice on a camera. http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/...aphy/national-geographic-complete-photography
