Max is 10 for bigger ships and less for smaller ships.

Lexi - Check out Leo's thread concerning SVS. Some "great" insight, I feel, Leo expresses there.
Also (as I've found out), success involved doing SVS pertains to key skill points attributed to sailing, practice, practice...&, more practice. Use a light sloop, War sloop, or War Frigate & keep moving. Open your ship to public until a few good cannoneers come your way.

Get on a ship that has more than 2 people aboard and hit as many ships as you can. Even if your ship doesn't sink the other, if you have hit it enough times you will get infamy points when it is finally sunk. At least on live we have targets. Noone sails much on test except to test!!
