banned :(

Being banned or terminated is a joke with Disney. I got term'd straight away without any warning at all (happened less than two months ago). I called Disney and raised enough dust so that they reversed the termination and instead just made it a three day ban.

I fully admit what I did was bannable--heck it was really terminable. But with enough ruckus raised, Disney backed off. I am NO different than any of you. If you feel like due process was not served, by all means dispute it and fight. And don't talk to the lackey that picks up the phone at Disney. In my experience, they are of little help. Really, their supervisor is not capable of much more. Go to the manager level or beyond--it will take some persistence.

And I just witnessed within the last month someone get banned for like the 8th time, then get terminated, only to be let back in, then FINALLY get terminated forever. Said person went out and made a new account (used the exact same pirate name), re-started their broken guild, and within days started moving old guildies into the new guild. I saw it all first hand. All ya gotta do is start another account. Heck, you can use the very same pirate name as ya had before. Disney hasn't a clue and prolly (really) doesn't want to. It's all about the money.

And I hear if ya been banned ya can't get test, but I believe IF ENOUGH ruckus is raised that policy is not set in stone either. My experience has always been, everything is negotiable. More times than not, that holds true.

And the process is not fair. Half of Tortuga, Abassa should be term'd forever (IMO--my opinion). The things you hear and see there. At least I keep my "personal" comments in a whisper and only the intended party is privy to those comments. The punishments, from what I've seen, are not even-handed and contain absolutely no consistency whatsoever. Some are allowed to keep going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going , and going..... While others are popped with maximum severity for their first mistake. Sure, I agree, some actions warrant more severity, but I've seen and heard of "F" word usage (first offense too) getting everything from absolutely nothing, to a 1 day ban, to a 3 day ban, to gone forever. Where is the consistency? Disney hasn't a clue and neither do we--how can we?? Again, ALL about the money and the players take a back seat.

Okay, through with rant... lol.

Sorry ya got banned too.

Good point James, I agree. People need to stand up for themselves when they're right. And about the person you mentioned, I know who that is and I'm So happy he was able to do that. He's an awesome friend, great person, and an amazing pirate. Especially when people put so much time and money into their pirates, it's so unfair that Disney can terminate someone. Unless what they did was really inexcusable, in my friends case, he didn't deserve it.

I second that, James. That key word "inconsistency", is the word that I despise (I stated in a couple other posts before concerning different things, so it's more than echoing to others).

My bans and others' bans, don't weigh the same. And I apologize if this statement stabs somebody here, but some 'violations' don't deserve the same bans as other obvious violations. That was why I disputed my second ban (for advertising Pirates Forums) with passion, because I didn't think that was compared to players who clearly swore with profanities.

Concerning termination without any warning, email or explanation, I've seen it first hand too. It was not my account, I was just calling them concerning that account. It burned my tail how Disney Potco could do that to a yearly subscriber (unlimited member whose membership was still active then). The difference with your case, James, was that I was not the owner to the account, so I could not defend and raise cane very comfortably (but had it been mine - which knock-knock on wood, it would never happen - they would have heard my 'voice' from all directions of the compass). Needless to say, it was not a pleasing experience, and I could only do so much in that situation. But it was a maddening situation of being treated unfairly without any explanation.

One thing to learn, is to know what situation you are in, if you get banned. If you knew you didn't do anything to cause the ban, do not let it go. It's worth the fight, regardless how the outcome would be. Disney Potco is not always correct when it comes to banning players.

As a closing, I'll give you the copy of the response of the Customer Service when I disputed my ban. Made me roll my eyes, literally.

Thanks for taking the time to email us regarding the ban on your account.

The rule about not sharing outside websites on Pirates Online is because we can't ensure our players security on sites that Disney doesn't operate. I see that you have a great site setup to chat about Pirates Online! As many young children play POTCO, if they were to see your advertisement to visit your fan site, they then can go to your site and share Personal information or potentially be exposed to language that we wouldn't allow in game. This is ultimately a safety issue for us and why we take this rule so seriously.

I see this ban was placed by a moderator so it was reviewed by a live person. Due to the nature of sharing outside websites, we do have a no tolerance rule about this type of thing, even though your site is a fan site.

We do appreciate your fan site and the camaraderie and ideas generated from it that are then written in to us so we can improve the game but we still have to maintain the safety on the site. So I cannot remove the ban on your account.

I appreciate the time you've taken to write to us so we could chat further about it. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Kathryn

I like it how they pretty much tell you what you already know... but if you actually want help... you won't get it from them.

And I wonder... are they better if you call them? :P

If they told you that you'll get your account back in 3 days then don't worry about it, because you'll get it back in 3 days.
my message was that i would be banned for 3 days but then i try to log back on at the time ( counting the 3 hours behind ) then i was terminated... disney is just stupid like that....

:D You know what ... I'd rather "write" than "speak" sometimes. Especially in regards to defending a position (I knew the nature of my email - or if I ever called - was to dispute my ban, which was basically starting an argument with them). In writing format, we could present evidence, but not in speaking format. Speaking tends to become 'your words against my words', which leads no where. Anyway, I'm assuming if you call, you would get no where arguing with them. Not saying that my email got somewhere either, but at least I had built my case strongly to defend my position back then.

I noticed she said they take that issue very serious. You should of told them there are a lot of things they need to take serious than banning you for mentioning the name of a safe website... Things like working on the game to make it better so we players can take them serious to pay for the game... Or the hackers which are a direct threat to player security ...

I hate when they make excuses which are fake knowing their work history.

I know, right? Back then the security issue was not that bad, and yes, the game performance slipped off of my attention then. I should've ... Anyway, maybe if we all start building our cases by bombarding them with emails, like all of us sending them tons of emails, they would be almost like a petition. Maybe it would go somewhere, even though I wouldn't hold my breath for it (like you said, you had sent tons of bug reports that never got taken care of). I guess that's a Disney Potco thing ... Idk ...

A little off topic but i also send them the video i made many many times. On one of their replies they said it was innsuficient and asked for my log files... How much more specific can something get. Everyone knows swift foot glitch, leadship making skills fizzle and other issues have nothing to do with what or how i'm playing. Lag is the only thing that is effected by the computer but potco works fine for a couple of days after resets or maintenance then slowly goes up the charts. That clearly has nothing to do with computer and clearly shows that the game is not in a stable performance. The video a was visual showing how everything happens and the writting was there. Excuses excuses...

Typed that on my phone so not sure whats spelled right.

Sending them emails wouldn't really. They can easily skip emails to those with titles that interest them or just read the first few lines then send one of there robotic emails[the one we always get].

I honestly think there's spam like system where it looks for keywords and then automatically sends a pre-typed message.

Possibly bombarding them with phone calls about changing stuff is something they would literally have to listen to[<---ba dum tsss]

I New a fried whO took a long break from POTCO and just got back playing and
we where just chilling and talking on abassa dark hart than loges of and than terminated

And that may be the reason they have removed live chat and their phone number from the site...
doesn't that mean that they don't care about our opinion in the game. Were their customers. POTCO is their product. They NEED to except the feedback about the game so that their product gets better. Now that you mentioned that, it does make a lot of sense. From my understanding though, Live chat was just a bunch of college students who are in the process of learning. Many times, their customer service has no tech information at all.

They ask us to report problems and we do. In the end they ignore them. Seems like now they are just getting bored and calling it quits of they don't want to know what we want, our opinion, and whats best for the game.

I do agree that Disney does take some suspensions to seriously. I got suspended only once and it was for a day because I asked a guild member of mine if he was on a certain forums site. I emailed Disney to see what I did and she said I violated terms about asking for personal info. If hackers and people can play the game crudely and swear and get away with it and I get banned for that, it saddens me. They need to look at some of the guidelines of when to ban and work on rewriting some of them.

I happened to come across your video on YouTube a few weeks ago. It was very vivid on in game issues and bugs. I would of figured Disney could of used it, but it seems it was a one way road with them.

Yeah but realistically they're more interested in their products which make them the most money. Back when Potco was booming they answered and fixed everything now the game let's face it is slowly dying.

But the reason it's dying is because they are not taking care of it. I told Kate this in the game not to long ago since we just had a short convo about wow... If POTCO had blizzard running POTCO, POTCO could be more successful than any game out there because it's has a lot of potential that never gets used...
