Question Best Way To Make Gold?

I am a new player (level 10) looking to gain some gold to purchase a good ship and I was wondering about the best way to go about doing that was? Thanks!

Joining a public ship or playing poker/blackjack at Padres Del Fuego (Make sure you have tons of cards to swap so you can win easily, you can also get cards from ship loot).

I said I was a LOW LEVEL for a reason I dont have these cards everyone is talking about...
 
Reading over this, I'm going to assume you never played POTCO... So here is a basic rundown of all the terms used here, as well as a couple tips.

Cards: Playing cards used to cheat at card games. Sail to Padres Del Fuego, and play blackjack for easy money.

Code: Use the code "bemine" to get a quick 5k, if you level your sailing to 5, you can use this to get a Sloop, Galleon, or a Frigate. (Brigs are 7k last I checked.)

Farming: Choose a weapon, and level it 10 - 15 levels. You get both experience from this, and depending on the level of enemies killed, you can get anywhere from 500- 2k per 10 levels. (Sell trash loot such as yellows and grays, along with gold loots.)
 
Aetherion laid it out pretty well, sword and gun are fun to level and get used to the different types, and of course the card games can be played without the cheat cards but are more fun with them
 
Ahoy! As stated a moment ago, you should use the code "BEMINE" as soon as the servers come back up, this code will give you 5k gold, which is enough for a ship. After that I would recommend sailing, by yourself or with one decent leveled cannon player, as the gold will split between everyone on board.

To be 100% honest though, the best source of gold early is fishing, once you level fishing up some you can get a couple hundred gold per fish.
 
Best ways are to stock up on some royals while sailing or poker (cheating helps).

You can also farm Darkhart which seems to give people lots of gold.
 
IMO fishing is a terrible way to get money. You have to pay money for lures, fishing pole upgrades, and you have to put down 1k each time you want a fishing boat (and seeing how they're buggy and you're going to crash a bunch, not fun)

The last fishing pole is 10k. You'll be basically making no money to offset the costs of paying for upgrades/boats until you start fishing with the 10k pole. Terrible way to make money, bad recommendation.

Card games are 100 percent the best way to make money. There is no better way in Potco. With the use of cheat cards you're basically guaranteeing you'll win the pot every single time against the ai.

I also would recommend not sailing for money because the loot is bugged and even with +5 treasuresense you'll be getting no royals. Also you'll crash. A lot.

Card games man. If anyone tells you anything else they don't know what they're talking about.

Whenever I swap cards sometimes, it'll bug out and freeze on my character's turn and won't proceed with the game. I have to get up from the chair and hop back into the game, but I lose the money I betted with. Is there a way to avoid this?

Yes. In blackjack if you swap cards to make a 21 or a blackjack the dealer will freeze out. If you're swapping cards, swap to something that will make a 20.

Also if you swap cards and someone else has the same card as you or it winds up being on the river, thats not good either.

Without doubt fishing and crewing on a public War Ship will get a low lvl player the most gold. It's worth noting that fishing doesn't crash much and so it's easy to sustain the farming there where as sailing is prone to crashing and loss of all loot if your crew ports before you can return. Another option is: If you have a wealthy friend, you can play cards with them and have them lose, thus they can give you their gold.

With the current looting system you will get drop cards almost every single time you open any loot container. You'll have practically a full deck by level 10 if you're opening your containers, and you don't really need to worry about money before then.

Even without cheat cards you'll be making more money than you would be with fishing.

Guide to help ^

2) Looting, go out on a public ship and farm killing ships. Can make more gold than poker but at a much slower rate.

3) Next if fishing. This makes less than both but it is fast and fun.

4) Repair game, can get annoying after a while but you can make around 140 every 1:30 if you are fast and accurate.
