When your games black screen do you have to hard restart your computer? I do and I'm just wondering if there's a way around it (i've tried a lot like Alt+F4 and Ctrl Alt Delete/Ctrl Shift Esc
 
Alt/F4 ctrl alt delete, etc wont do anything if its black screen. Either close game and restart, or restart pc. It could also be GPU issue so update drivers
 
In my case if that happens, I use alt+f4 or ctrl+shift+esc and wait. It usually pulls up the "TLOPO has stopped working" window if I wait long enough. Otherwise I wonder if you could use alt+tab to the desktop? Or Windows key+L to lock your computer. Then when you log back in it might give you more control.

I haven't had too many black screen issues but if I did, the above usually helped me with a little bit of patience. But in my case I've always been able to see the task bar and game window so if your issue is a completely black screen, that might be an issue unique to you
