Brute It, Don't Mute It!

S

Shamus The Brute

When I was a teen, I spent a lot of time just listening to and dubbing music together (i.e., back-2-back songs) for myself to where the transition between one song & another didn't ruin the listening "mood and magic." As I grew older, I wasn't fortunate enough to go club-hopping too much but nevertheless...I understood that music itself was important to me because it drew out this BEAST of a party animal  within me which never conceptualized, lol (oh well, I guess).

Much like a good pair of matching socks ^, I feel that the melody & the beat of one song should correctly lead into the melody & beat of another and so the purpose of this thread is to draw upon that to where everyone is free to post music you like but this thread is also as a place for myself to share some really interesting songs, remixes, mashups, etc. I have found into one single, dedicated area here on the forums.

Avast! While my own choice in music might be different from yours, keep in mind that I often dress in the dark and so the "socks" I do happen to find don't always come from the same thread of fabric (nor do they always match). Anyway, if you love music as much as I do perhaps this thread could serve as a place for yourself to visit periodically in lieu of your own music/listening interests.

Shamus ~

...I'll post a few songs and a megamix which have personal meaning to me because I can relate to the lyrics or simply because it brings me in good mood...
All good songs in my opinion. ;) Songs (or lyrics to songs) which do this are worth more than GOLD.
Well, I have no musical talent, so I won't torture you all by trying.
If you do happen to have a song or two you personally like, feel free to post it here...whenever. Also, there are others threads here on the forums to which you can post such favorites as well. (It's just a few of them have become quite large).

Going back to particular songs which invoke meaning from them, I enjoy the first two and have included the third here as well because it takes me back to a time when I was a teen.

"Living in a Bubble" - Eiffel 65

"The Edge" - Eiffel 65

"Then She Bit Me" - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (aka Will Smith)

Charles Mingus - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. Great song, and it was written by Charles Mingus as a dedication to Lester Young who died a month prior to the song being released.

Charles Mingus - Moanin'. Really great song with an insane baritone saxophone player (the part with the exposed solos) The baritone player is Ronny Cuber.

Weather Report - Birdland, a combination of jazz and world music. You can't listen to this and feel sad, at least thats how I see it :) Sorry if this post is obnoxiously long.

Man, I "love" jazz and I will have to spend some time going through all of these that you had posted above ^ (no worries about the length of the post).

I love not only jazz but also Blues as well (though I haven't educated my ears enough on the Blues in comparison to Jazz. Below are a few more of my favorites from both genres). *Thank you kindly for sharing.

"Take Five" - The Dave Brubeck Quartet (1959)

"Lazy Bones" - Harry Connick Jr. (with Johnny Adams)

Oh man, Take five is always a good listen. nice and laid back and at the same time on the actual music for the alto sax, its like 3 flats in a rhythm i found hard to play. Dave really did that piece some justice when he performed :D

I really like this song and it probably does no justice to it but while I was listening, I was watching the news on CNN (with captioning only) to where the "problems" of the world itself...seemed to have disappeared away. :D

Really great song as well and when the "insane" baritone solos echo'd throughout the room here...I had to take a look around to see if anyone was looking back @ me as if I had just BROKEN WIND, lol.

I like this one as well, as Charlie Parker has some great talent. ;)

@DukePatron - Here's one I found below with a good beat.

"Sack O' Woe" - Cannonball Adderley feat. Nat Adderley (written by Julian Adderley)

So in addition to music others and myself have already shared above, we should not forget about a genre of music which is not given enough credit nor attention - I feel. ~ "Salsa" be the way to go mates, if ye happen to sail yer ship near or around the vicinity of Cuba (on TLOPO), remember MILK takes away the burn because ultimately when I think of Salsa...I think of a spicy sauce for me chips:popcorn:and I think of how much my tongue is going to burn:boom: if I happen to eat too much of it but alas, the following songs below represents a touch of Salsa for your listening pleasure (and ears) instead.

"No Me Dejes De Querer" - Gloria Estefan

"Clocks" - Coldplay feat. Buena Vista Social Club (remix'd version)

Speaking of Metallica covers, here's another 10 year old with her cover of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. This is probably one of the best covers I've heard in a while. The vocals are near perfect and the accompaniment of the piano adds a lot of emotion to this cover.
