Sea Legs
This Idea is intended for large ships that open to the public and cannot see names, and in the event the captain does not crew to make things a bit easier to manage, and can also benefit in SvS, and benefit Role Players to an extent.
Story behind the idea (optional reading) : During my days of Potco I opened up my ship to the public to get more people on board to do higher loot runs and material runs, however given most of my ship had basics with the occasional Unlimited player (and yes I am aware everybody will have unlimited now) it was quite difficult to get very far. After managing to sink a bounty hunter, my health bar was in the yellow so I asked for somebody to repair the ship, not a single person moved from the cannons, and then I ended having to head to dock because nobody would repair, and of course people begged me to stay out and I kept telling them to repair, and finally got one person, but by then it was too late, I was forced to dock and ended up being the bad guy for it.
With that said, this idea will at least help with giving Captains more control over their crew by specifically picking a crew member of their own choosing to repair their ship or do other specific tasks. So this is the general idea of what I had in mind.
A feature that can be toggled via clicking the crew tab of a ships crew count to allow Captains of their ships to issue commands to specific crew members on board their ship selected by clicking the Crew Number icon below the ships health and sail bars (The crew count circle) and selecting the player and issue specific orders as follows: Repair, Cease Fire, Man the Cannon, and Take the Wheel.
Also the Captain has a "Command All" option that tells all players on deck the following commands: Cease Fire, Hold Fire, Fire at Will (fire freely), Open Fire (which will activate the Open Fire sailing ability), Repair, and Man the Cannons. However players will retain their freedom from being able to disobey the order(s) given.
Captains will also reserve the right to kick you off of the ship for using the command prompts which will teleport the kicked player to the last island they were on.
Edit 8/29/2016: Kicking will be up for debate below and will determine on how kicking on ships will be handled. Speak your voice or forever hold your piece.
Debates will be frequently changed to be commented on as a way of getting community feedback on the idea to see if it improves or worsens over the course of time. Please leave a comment for each debate if you wish to express your opinion.
Debate(s)
Kicking Ability:
1. Captain can freely kick at will.
2. Captain can kick IF the player disobeys an order.
3. Captain can initiate a Crew Vote (Prompted as "Walk the Plank")
You may mix any of these 3 options together. (Example: Captain can initiate a Crew Vote if the player disobeys an order)
AFK Kicking:
1. Should going afk kick you off of a cannon to free it up and let you ride along the rest of the trip although you will be at the mercy of the captains kick to free up a crew slot?
2. Should it give you a 60 second warning once the afk is active, and then auto-kick you off the ship with all loot you obtained up to that point onto your last island visited?
