Captain dced timeout

I think there should be a captain dced timeout, I have noticed that many time captains who are sailing on a run open to the public or any circumstance for that matter stay in game long before the game drops them causing the ship to be destroyed and mats lost because no one is able to take over the wheel perhaps if it were possible to implement a no action timeout so another crew member can take over steering the ship if the captain remains inactive for a certain period of time to save the mats and the ship. Not sure how it would be implemented but I think it's a good idea. Thanks for reading my post.

P.S. TLOPO is down so was unable to read the FAQs

I agree with the timeout suggestion.
But it should be noted that as long as the capn remains at the helm, the ship takes no damage.
I always wait at the help to jump and grab it as soon as the capn finally logs out of the game.
Never sunk that way or taken significant damage.
Now, if you don't mind my asking, why the bold type?

Just easier for me to read. Sorry if its too much for you.
It's OK. I didn't say it was too much for me. Just curious is all. Usually bold face is employed to gain the attention of the reader, etc.
At least you didn't do it all in caps, lol!
Anyway, sorry for the distraction and back to the topic at hand...

I believe that in the bug that you're talking about, Crashalot is right that the ship is invincible until the captain fully disconnects and is taken away from the helm, and I don't like the idea of implementing a solution to the effect of a bug rather than the bug itself.

Not true we remained alive till the Battle Royale came a did us in then the Captain dced.
What do you mean by that? Did you sink before the captain disconnected? Did the Battle Royale do damage before the captain left the helm? Also, when did this happen? I was on a run yesterday where something similar to what you're describing happened: the captain was stuck at the helm, and the moment he disconnected the Battle Royale broadsided and sank us.

We were sunk by the Battle Royale then the captain was disconnected completely from the game but we know he was stuck in limbo between being released from the game because the ship was at a stand still the whole time. I know for a fact that many times you are dcing sometimes the came is just not responding so it leaves your pirate in game to others while your trying to close the non responsive game.

When you get Dc'd your avatar Is still there til you relog back on again , This can be time consuming when under fire and the Captain Is still semi at the helm and under fire! As slow as the log in process Is taking you'll most likely be sunk long prior to getting relogged on ! Same goes for pirates that still show " ON " In guild list ! Bugged for sure !!

Its a frozen state the game is cycling so I am still in game. And it stays there till either the game decides to quit or I end it by ctrl alt del. or just simply closing the game and in our guild list from time to time we see people online whom we know are not online.

In our guild when this happens, most of the members have had it happen enough to know to close the game quickly otherwise we will have happen what happened with Bess. It is a problem and unless the captain gets himself out of the game quickly you can sink.

Worse part Is you don't log out til you log back in , closing the game don't log you out always , that's why so many show on In guild list yet are off the game ( No location shown on these players ) Time consumption Is the key to closing the game and get re-logged !

I was just on a ship last night when this frequent problem happened.
The capn crashed, and the ship stopped moving, with full sails, and the Tally Ho and Flying Storm circled us for about 5 minutes, until the crew sunk them, all while the capn stayed at the helm, motionless.
The Tally and Storm did no damage to us, until the capn finally logged back in and disappeared from the helm.
I quickly jumped on the wheel and sailed away before too much damage occurred from the new warship and hunter.
As we approached the Cove, the capn reemerged and we ported, safe and sound.
That's usually how it happens and I've not seen it any other way, other than the instant crash where the capn is gone in a heartbeat.

The capt is always motionless. Never moves. So, the motionless is the ship, correct?
