Character Creation Soft Lock-up

Just downloaded the game. I go to create my pirate, and when I finished the creation, I was jumped to a stationary camera in the center of the jail facing the cells. From what I can tell, all controls and keys are disabled at this point. I've had it sitting for about twenty minutes, so i doubt it's slow loading. This is an image of what I see:

It's been over an hour, have you logged out and tried again? I believe this was the first thing you were to see to talk to Jack who helps you get out of jail.
Let us know what happened since.

I tried 3 times about ten minutes after i posted. First run, I see my pirate in the menu, i select him and have control, but I'm in the cell with no cutscene, so I'm just trapped. 2 and 3, I select the pirate and I'm brought to the creation menu, with all features saved. I hit ok and get a sign-in error, followed by a crash. I deleted the pirate and started over, that fixed the issue, everything ran normally.
