Congratulations to Meb Keflezighi of California, for winning the 118th Boston Marathon, a feat that no American has accomplished in 31 years!
I find it more than coincidence that it occurred this year, especially after having the Red Sox winning the World series last season. They finished in last place the season previous, and were not even supposed to have made the playoffs, yet they won.
This city was simply brought to tears witnessing it, coming so soon after the Marathon bombings in April, it was unforgettable. When Pappy placed the trophy on the Marathon finish line, you could not even speak, because there were just no words.
I was never one to believe in coincidences, not on those scales, anyway. "Boston Strong" is not just a tee shirt, or a cute saying that was made up, it is what makes us the city we are, and makes us Americans.
On October 30, 2013 of last year, the Red Sox won the series IN Fenway Park for the first time since 1918, and God chose to help Boston remain Strong when we needed it. Today I felt he declared "America Strong", and God help the one (....or the two) who thinks otherwise.
