My most recent comment is perfectly on-topic. This thread is laden with fallacies which attack the people arguing for certain suggestions instead of the merits of the ideas themselves.

One form of that is the “well it can’t all be about loot” argument, which is completely out-of-place in a thread dealing with a game feature that directly governs the mechanics of how loot is collected and transferred.

Another, equally eyeroll-inducing fallacy has been to attack looting’s incentive structure by chalking it up to “ego” and “bragging rights.” Any accomplishment in any video game - say a high competitive rank in an online MOBA - could be characterized as a matter of “ego.” That doesn’t change that these kinds of awards are often what entice players to play as long and enthusiastically as they do. It turns out that encouraging the “ego” of those gosh darned “looters” is a pretty wise design philosophy if you’re interested in keeping dedicated players engaged.

This kind of thing is important to consider while weighing the merits of different suggestions.
