Okay, another OP had asked if tlopo is still in beta, when does it stop being a beta and if pirates lose their data.
However the thread has splintered from his/her questions in a connected way, but still angled a bit.
I didn't want to drag it further away, so there is this thread.
When people say new content in tlopo, does it mean written from scratch? Or does it mean pulling in content already existing in code we beta testers haven't seen, thus we label it 'new'. Or a mixture of both. It's not like I have a need to know. But there's always rumbles about the time element here and if people knew that for sure "We are rewriting or creating stuff from scratch" which means it takes more time as opposed to dropping in already written code from disney, people would be a little more patient and understanding. I think there was some mention earlier of that, but I don't think it's announced enough.
My impression is textures, models and such are pre existing in the tlopo downloaded code and the dev's bring it in when they can make it conform to todays tlopo. It's not new to them, but new to us. None of what the dev's do to progress their hard work is a bad thing. They have all the cards and plans about roll outs and whatever.
I've watch the game progress through my year and a half of beta testing...(year and a half? Jeez already? I gotta get me a life)... and like Shamus said in the thread this came from the dev's are walking a fine line of developing something to work right and also keeping people interested to stay with it as well.
I think the dev's are doing a commendable job of holding this project together and keeping the beta testers interested. Whether it's already there, or is new made from scratch isn't really that important to the bigger picture.
Because to me it's all brand new. All the people involved with this project always have my kudos to and my respect to them.
