Corsairs of the Sea: Remember Me

Chapter 7: Unauthorized Actions

Back in Port Royal the next day, the sun was just appearing from the clouds. The town was just as busy as the day before. That Explosive event that happened the previous day was still fresh on everyone’s minds, but that didn’t stop them from doing what they usually did on any given day.

Back at the naval fort, in one of the High offices that overlooked the ocean, the Naval Port Commander, Edward Winston was at his desk. The weather outside did not match his mood. Earlier that morning, he was given news about a ship that pulled out of dock, which was unauthorized, was sunk. Just what he needed! Not only he had to talk to the base commander later that day about some idiot that was dressed in some bloke’s Naval Uniform, ( and somehow manage to slip pass) he also had to explain to the Governor and to His Majesty, how the ship’s captain set sail, without permission, and managed to let the ship be destroyed! He also heard about the Governor’s mansion being broken into to, but that didn’t concern him. As of now, he was waiting for Terrence Becket the man who caused him all this grief. He was lucky that another naval ship that was returning plucked him out of the water. If it was up to Edward, he would’ve left him in the water.

Edward runs his hand through his hair and leans back. He turns his head left and right, until he heard that faint cracking sound. He does the same with his knuckles. He gets up, and opens the doors behind him the leads to the balcony. There is a slight breeze, and the air smelled of salt, the ocean was directly ahead. The sun glistens on the water; its rays warming up the island from the cool night.

Edward put his hands on the railing, and closes his eyes, he felt the warmth of the sun on him, and he hears the calls of seagulls. He looks straight down to see some civilians, and a few Solders walking to where they had to go, some were already at their posts.

With a sigh, he goes back inside. There was a huge map of the world, old and new, that took up most of the wall, opposite his desk. Elsewhere around the room, there were rolled up parchments, book shelves’, books – some on the floor- a wooden globe, a fire place a cabinet that had the finest of rum and wine.

Edward sits back down on his leather chair; the table was mahogany, imported. It was here before he came in and definitely will still be here long after he’s gone. On the desk is a few more books, blank parchments, an ink well, and two quills. He looks at the clock, ten minutes after ten. Seeing that Terrance wasn’t coming anytime soon, Edward decides to get started on the letter directed to the King of England, stating that, one of their ships were lost in an unauthorized sea battle, and that the captain of that ship left port illegally. He was up to the part stating that he’ll report to England with the caption, to discuss the future of that captain, and the possible, removal of himself from power. Edward faced the risk of being demoted, and that’s the best case scenario.

He was half way done with the letter when a young lieutenant opened the door.

“Commander,” he said, “Captain Beckett is here.”

“Bring him in,” Edward said flatly, not bothering to even look up.

In comes Terrance, escorted by two soldiers. He is disgraced; his uniform is all stained, his hair matted with dirt. He had a few scratches on his face from the day before. He was tired, dirty, and under a lot of pressure. It was only going to get worst.

After the solders left, there was dead silence in the room; only the ticking sounds of the clock, quill on paper, and the sounds from outside could be heard.

Edward, who still wasn’t looking up, gestured to Terrance to come forward. He stood at attention, (The best way he could given how he was at that point, which very wasn’t good.) He looks straight ahead – outside- daring not to look down.

Edward continues to write, the scratching of the quill against the parchment seemed to be relaxing to Terrance. With the slight breeze, he closes his eyes and breaths in deeply. Everything was forgotten…

“I’m vexed, Captain,” said Edward, and Terrance was brought back to reality, “Very Vexed.” He puts his quill back into the ink well and looks up, unfazed by Terrance appearance. “Do you know why?”

“Commander-”

“You Pulled out of port without any bloody authorization to do so! What drove you to do something this reckless?”

“Sir,” said Terrance, “There was a pirate ship…”

“So that suddenly gives you permission to leave port without any orders?”

“Jack Sparrow was on that ship, Sir”

“I don’t care if that darned Edward Teach was on the ship as well…!”

“It was the Black Pearl, Commander,” said Terrance, this time looking down directly at Edward, “There is a Bounty on him and his ship. As I understand, any naval vessel that sees a ship or Captain that is in a bounty has a right engage them.”

Edward chuckles to himself, what a weak defense – if any.

“While you are right about the naval engagement for anyone under the bounty, but it only works if that bounty was set by the Navy! And the last time I checked,” he searches through the papers on his desk then soon finds what he is looking for, “It’s the East India Trading Company that sent out the bounty, not us! And therefore it’s up to them to catch him!” He slams the paper on the desk, “Which leads me to believe you did all of this because of you brother, correct?”

There was a pause as neither of them said anything. Edward sighs, gets up, and walks to the cabinet. He takes out two glasses and a bottle of rum.

“Yes I did sir,” said Terrance, he remembers that day when he got the news.

Edward pours the rum in the two glasses; he offers one to Terrance who takes it. The Commander then leads the Captain to the balcony.

“I lost a brother as well,” said Edward, “A few years ago. But it wasn’t in battle- his ship went down in a storm. But I moved on, which is what you should do to.”

“How can I? I can’t forgive Jack for taking the life of my brother!”

“So you just went after him then?”

“To avenge my brother!”

“You were blinded by revenge, Beckett!” Edward snapped, “And because of that, men were lost and a ship went down!”

Terrance faces him, “I had to go after him, and it was my best judgment-”

“You best Judgment?! My God! Your Judgment was clouded by pure revenge!” He pauses, “I don’t think you understand the seriousness of your situation, captain.”

Edward walks back inside, and Terrence follows, “You think all of what you did would just blow away into the wind? You have to face the consequences. You are going to have to speak to the King.”

“The King of England?” Terrance said, slightly surprised.

“Aye the King of England, who else do you have in mind? The Tax Payers are not going to be happy that their money went down the drain. They went through tax increases, to have this ship made. It took over a year to be made – only to be destroyed in minutes because of you.”

There was a quick pause; Edward takes a sip from his glass. He continues, “You’re not the only one who has problems, Beckett. I also have to answer to the King.”

He picks up the letter.

“You see this? This letter is to the King. I wrote it up before your sorry self came into my office. It states that we’ll be going to England to come up with a verdict for you… and me.”

He leads Terrance to another balcony; this one looks over the town.

“A verdict? What’s the punishment? ” asked Terrance.

Edward chuckles, “For me, Suspension from duty, or sent to prison. But once they find out that I had no control over what you did, the punishment, as you put it, would be much lighter.”

“And what about me, Sir?”

“Is that a hint of fear in your voice, Beckett? For you, Demotion, prison or…. worst.” He looks down at something below them. He leans his back on the railing, “We leave in two weeks. Until then, you are hereby relived from active duty. During this time, you should make up some sort of defense. But I highly doubt it’ll hold up.”

And with that, Edward leaves Terrance on the balcony. Terrance looks down and sees what Edward saw: the Gallows.

“Keep this in mind, Beckett,” Edward said behind him, “The Royal Navy does not play around when it comes to matters like this. Whatever the punishment, you’ll have to face it. Do I making myself clear?”

“Yes sir.”

“You may leave.”

Terrance places his glass on a table. He looks at Edward once more, who was sitting down at his desk, and leaves the room, Navy Soldiers outside waiting to take him away.

Wow, it was amazing. I was supposedly 'bored' of learning about what happened to the Navy's kitchen after the big bang boom things of the pirates. But no ... I'm amazed by how detailed you portrayed the room, the feelings of Winston, and what actually happened back then on the Navy side if their ship got sunk!

Well done, Basil! I learned a lot about the real story of the revenge (btw, did you make that up; the part that about Beckett's brother being killed because of Jack Sparrow ... or that was the real story?). Very good pacing of the story, to read it in a slower pace on this chapter!

Well, in the movie, At Worlds End, It was the Pearl and the Dutchman that sinks Beckett's ship, and because of that, Beckett was killed. ( Is that what you mean?) Anyway, I can't show much about the Subplot, so that's all I can really say for now.

I can't remember anything from the movie ... I literally have to wikipedia that. Which Beckett was killed when the ship was sunk? Terrence? Or his brother? What I meant was, the 'revenge' part of Terrence Beckett towards Jack Sparrow; was that according to the story from the book/movie, or you made that up as a continuation of the book/movie? It's still good, and actually it's too good that leads me to believe that you could've just re-written the book/movie (yes, it's that caliber ... You need to pursue being a screen writer ...). But I know you didn't, because you're just plain talented. I just wanted to know which part that you added/made up, and which one that was taken from the book/movie.

I'm sorry ... too demanding, aren't I? Well, you know me ... ;) And I wasn't asking for a subplot, let it be a mystery, and do your thing with your story. I'm patient enough not to ask for more details ...

The real Beckett was killed, Cutler Beckett in the movie. Cutler Beckett never had a brother, I just added in Terrence for the 'twist.' So yeah everything with Terrence is made up. I know... I amaze myself sometimes!

Update: Chapter 8 Alexander Decimus Hades (?)

There's going to be a delay for this month's chapter. I kind of painted myself in a corner with the Convo between Alex and Tia. Still thinking of a name for the chapter, the one now could be changed.

Well, they say good things come to those who wait. ;) Very much looking forward to your next chapter, I'm sure it won't disappoint, your story is very well thought out and written.

Chapter 8: Alexander Nero Decimus Hades

There was a clear blue sky. Fields of grass swayed like a wave in the light breeze. Someone was walking through them. The person was at the highest point of the island; Turquoise waters surrounded it. Far below, there were towns and ships, along the sandy beaches. To the East, was nothing but a rocky shoreline. The ocean was rough here: No wonder, that side faced the Atlantic Ocean. The other, where the town was, faced the Caribbean Sea.

The boy sighed – this was where he wanted to be. And it was all because of one thing – the Golden Hawk. A bird that lived high up on the island that was named after it: ‘Golden Hawk Island.’ Up to the north were caves. Some had sliver, others had gold and other types of minerals in it. And one contained the nest of the Golden Hawk. And in that cave, lived a sword maker. What was so special about him? He was known to make swords that had a certain ‘power’ to them, and each was unique.

A cry – the boy looked up to see something shine brightly in the sun above him. He knew what it was and smiled. Only one bird made that sound so distinctive: the Golden Hawk. The boy watched as it circled high above him, swooping down a few times before going back up again. It seemed gentle yet powerful at the same time. The boy watched as it gilded on the air currents, before it swooped down one final time and disappeared behind the rocky coastline, most likely searching for food.

The boy waited to see the hawk and now that he did, it was time to head back to town. Little did he know that that was the last time he would see the hawk. From that day on his life would be changed forever. And he would not remember it…

Alexander wakes up – the same dream again. He sits up on the cot. The rest of the crew was also in their cots fast asleep. Apart from one or two that were out on watch and keeping the ship on course. Alexander’s cot was near the aft of the ship, and he had the ‘bottom bunk’ the person above him was Basil.

There was a small hole on the ship’s side that from time to time Alex looked through. The ocean was still, apart from what seemed to be storm clouds in the distance, the ocean was ‘silent’

Alex, figuring that he wasn’t going back to sleep anytime soon, gets up. Being a pirate wasn’t all it was cracked up to be – the sleeping conditions for the crew was terrible. Most places were cramped. The cots weren’t comfortable (you always got up stiff,) there was a smell of dampness in the air; it had that stuffy feeling. And to top it all off, you were basically sleeping in a death trap: Surrounded by gunpowder, and other flammable/explosive things. If you got pass that, including the risk of getting diseases – everything from Psittacosis to Dysentery – and even the higher possibly of getting killed each and everyday of your waking and sleeping lives, then you should be okay.

Alex gets up and scratches. He wasn’t sleeping that long and yet he was still fairly stiff. He walked slowly pass his sleeping mates, being careful not to wake them up. A few times, the ship would sway, causing Alex to nearly lose his balance. He was still not used to the unpredictable movements of the ship, for when the ship suddenly dropped behind a wave, Alex lost it. He rushed up on the deck trying to hold it down, but gagged every time he did. He ran over to the side of the ship and leaned over. He holds it back again, this time closing his eyes then looking up into the sky. He took small breaths and gripped the railing.

“Terrible night isn’t it?” said a voice behind him. He immediately forgot about his sickness and turned to see who was talking; it was Annabelle, “For you anyway?”

Alex runs his hand through his hair, “Aye I guess you can say that. What about you?”

“Same,” she said, “After all, not a few hours ago, Tortuga was locked into battle with undead people, including that tall looking one. Who was that?”

Hector Roger, he’s Jack’s friend… or was anyway.”

Anna stands next to him, looking out to sea. “Was he always like that?”

“You’re asking the wrong person,” Alex said, “but if he wasn’t, I am sure Jack had something to do with it, right, Anna?” Alex refers to earlier that night, when Anna blamed Jack for causing trouble.

“I’m sorry if I seem hostile toward Jack. Where ever he goes trouble always follows.”

And yet, here you are on his shipwhy?” Alex thought to himself, “That’s why he’s so notorious,” Alex said aloud, “Even at the exploits of other people’s lives…” Alex wonders how many people died back on Tortuga. Some of them were just having a good time. And now, they could be dead. He knew Anna was thinking the same thing when she said…

“Thanks for saving me back then, I was one of the lucky ones.”

“Saving you? You mean almost dragging you on to the ship?”

“Sorry, I know I can be stubborn at times…”

You can say that again,” Alex thought to himself.

“…it’s just who I am.”

Alex always disliked apologizing to someone. To him, it was a sign of weakness. “And I’m sorry if I was a little aggressive. It’s in my blood. I have the habit to ‘take over’ so to speak.”

“It shows,” Anna smiles.

There was a rumble in the distance- A thunder storm was passing by, causing the wind to pick up a little. Even though the ship’s path did not cross the thunder storm path, the air felt cooler. There was a squawk, cotton’s parrot was on the mast above them; its owner, at the wheel.

“Aren’t you tired?” Alex asked her.

“To much on my mind…” she replied.

“Ah…”

“Besides, it must be pretty cramped down there, with the damages and all.”

“Not really, the damage part anyway. Most of the hits were on the gun deck. The ship took a few hits below that but we’re alright. The cramp part I can say a lot about.” He rubs is neck.

How long would they go without talking about Basil? As the silence stretched between them, they both knew that they had to end it. But who would go first?

“Uh, I had no choice…” began Alex.

“Hmm?”

“Being a pirate – I had no choice. I always wondered what it’s like to be a pirate. But the - I guess you can say - real reason I am here is something more… to find out who killed my parents and why.”

“And what makes you think that Jack will know?”

“Call it a dream… one of many.”

Annabelle smirks, “Really?”

“Laughable, is it not? And there’s one dream I just don’t get, and I had it for as long as I can remember.”

“What is it? Maybe I can help you.”

“Humph, doubt it. I am high above sea level,” he closes his eyes as he recalled his dream, “or at least someone is. It keeps switching from point of view. But it’s still the same thing. I, or ‘he,’ waits up there for a while. Up here, he can see the water; on one side calm, with ships docked near the shore - There’s a town there – and on the other s rough with a rocky coast line. There are caves ahead of me, or ‘him’. What’s in them, I don’t know. Then I hear a cry. A golden bird flies above me. It circles a few times, and then swoops down behind the rocky coastline.” He looks at Anna.

“Heh,” she shakes her head, “Sorry, can’t make heads or tails of it.”

“Thought so,” Alex walks toward the bow of the ship. Anna follows.

“That’s one of the reasons I’m with Jack, besides the Adventure of a life time and having no other place to go to. But I also want to find a meaning behind that dream. It just has to mean something.” He holds on to a rope and stares ahead. “And I’m not going to stop ‘till I find it - even if it kills me.”

“You sound like someone I would want by my side.” Anna said, looking at him. Alex turns to look at her. “Y-you know- if I ever needed help with something… life threatening.”

“Oh, of course…” Alex said, giving her a quick smile.
~~~
“Wake up mate, we’re nearing land,” said Basil, shaking Alex awake. It was morning now, and some of the crew was already on the deck, doing whatever they had to do.
Alex groans; the same dream again. He just had to find some sort of answer to this dream – and soon. It was driving him crazy. Reluctantly, he gets out of his cot and rubs his neck.
“Not very comfortable…”
“You’ll get used to it.”
“Where are we?” Alex asked. He starts to walk toward the stairs.
“Somewhere near, Cuba,” replied Basil, following him, “That’s what Jack said anyway. We’re going to see the Voodoo woman.”
They make their way to the gun deck which was still damaged. They went up another flight of stairs that led to the top deck.
“Voodoo woman…? Tia Dalma?”
“Aye,” said Basil, “she’s inland… in a swamp somewhere. We’ll have to go by boat to get there.”
“And she’s the one that’s supposed to interpret this map, so we can find yet another one?”
“You were there when Jack said it, mate. If there’s anyone that can make heads or tails of that map, it’s Tia.”
They arrive on the deck. And as usual, the deck was busy. Cuba was only a half a mile out.
“But why her?” questioned Alex, “There are other people that can decipher maps. What’s so different about her?”
“Well it’s...” before Basil could continue, Jack pops out of nowhere… literally
“It’s because she’s a voodoo queen, mate. She has other talents then just map reading.” He faces Alex, “She can find your destiny, prevent you from getting eaten by an oversize squid, temperately, and even bring you back from the dead.”
“Back from the dead? You actually came back from the dead?”
“Well, not me per se…” he checks his nails, “she brought back someone else – Barbossa, and his bloody monkey. However, I’ve been undead once if that changes anything.”
“I heard about that,” Alex said, “the curse of the Pearl...”
Jack smiles approvingly, “Glad to hear the infamy about me is still going around!”
“And you somehow survived all though your exploits… infamy indeed…” said Basil
“I cheat death mate, you should try it sometime. Although, making that deal with death can be rather difficult.” He turns to the crew, “Gibbs! Gibbs! Answer, man…” He looks around. Gibbs comes rushing in.
“Aye, sir?”
“Where were ye?”
“Well, I was-”
“Doesn’t matter. Have the crew raise the sails and drop anchor. We’re going ashore.”
“You couldn’t do that yourself?”
“Ah, but then what would I have you for?”
“Aye, Jack,” sighed Gibbs, “Gents! Drop anchor and raise the sails! Get those boats into the water! We be going ashore!”
“You do it so well,” said Jack, “Now if you excuse me, I’ll get the sword and the map…”
“How did ye sleep?” ask Gibbs to Alex just as Jack left.
“I’ve been told I’ll get used to it…”
Gibbs chuckles, “You will.”
“Basil!” a crew member called, “we need a hand over here!”
“On my way!” he replied, “excuse me mates…” he leaves Gibbs and Alex to help with the sail.
“Gibbs?” said Alex
“Aye, lad?”
“Have a question. It’s about Anna and Basil.” They start to walk.
“Ah, they had another one of those fights again, did they?”
“You know about it?”
“Aye, they don’t mean anything about it. So don’t worry. They’re like them fighting roosters you see? Leave them alone to long, and they’ll want to rip each other apart. I guess that’s how they love each other I guess. Even though ‘love’ doesn’t seem like the right word for it. Trust me, Anna is going to make a comeback; sooner or later…
~~~
Later, parts of the crew, (Gibbs, Basil, Jack, Alex, Pintel, Ragetti, and Cotton,) were going up river in longboats to pay Tia a visit. Of course, Basil and Anna were in to two separate boats. Basil was in Jack’s who was up ahead, and Anna was in the one behind, with Gibbs, Alex, and Cotton.
The only sounds that were made were from various insects, water being disturbed by the paddles and murmurs here and there. The canopy blocked out most of the sun, but there were beams of light that made it to the murky waters.

Cotton and Gibbs paddled as Alex and Anna watched.

“This voodoo woman,” began Anna, “How did Jack come to know her?”

“There are many things that I don’t know about Jack,” said Gibbs, “This is one of them. She’s a strange woman, but Jack seems to have taken a shine to her…” The boat rounds a bend. “That’s where she lives – up ahead.” Alex and Anna turns to see what Gibbs was looking at. There was a house, (more like a medium size shack,) that was a raised part of land. Troches surrounded the ‘house,’ and there were vines crisscrossing everywhere. Gibbs boat pulled alongside Jack’s

“Here we are,” said Jack, “just as I remember it.” He disembarks and the others follow.

Alex’s heart started to beat faster. He had a strange feeling about the place. Whether it was good or bad, he didn’t know; he just had this feeling about it.

They neared the house, (Or shack or whatever you call it,) up the three steps they went, were Jack stops them. He looks at Alex who was lagging behind.

“Here, best you hold this…” Jack holds the sword. Alex walks up and hesitantly takes it from him.

“Why am I holding it?”

“You’ll see,” Jack said, “Its best she sees you with the sword. Alex, who was still weary, decided not to say anything; better to have the situation revel itself than to have Jack explain it to you.

Jack knocks on the door, almost immediately, the Voodoo woman, Tia Dalma, opens it; she smiles.

“Jack, I’ve been expecting you.”

“Tia Dalma, as beautiful as always,” said Jack

“I assume you got the sword?” she asked, as she stepped aside, letting Jack and the others in.

“I do, and I think you know the person who has it now…”

Alex walks in, distracted by the objects above and beside him. There were jars of eyes - humans no doubt – a skeleton of a large snake, claws that were stored in bottles, and other sorts of creepy things.

Tia walks slowly toward the still distracted Alex. Only when they were a few feet apart did Alex noticed her. He takes a step back, slightly surprised at the way Tia looked at him.

“Alexander Nero Decimus Hades,” she said, “I haven’t seen you since you were ten years old…”

Jack looks at Alex, “That’s your full name? Quite a mouthful, isn’t it?”

Alex looks at her suspiciously, “How do you know both of my middle names?”

Tia circles him, “I sense that you’re here to find answers, someone has killed your parents…” Alex’s eyes met hers.

“How do I Know?” she said, “You have a touch of destiny in you…”

“You say that to everyone nowadays…” mumbled Gibbs. Tia ignores him.

“You are here for a reason. A journey like you never imagined. But to start this Journey, you must know about your past.”

Alex couldn’t say anything.

“Please, have a seat. What I’m about to tell you will change everything you once knew. And it will be difficult to understand.”

“Ohh-kay…” Alex said, slowly sitting down. Tia sits next to him.

“Everything your parents told you is a lie.”

Alex scoffs, “What? Not possible.”

“Them say you were born in England, correct?”

“Yes…”

“It’s not true.”

“And how would you know?”

“Because I’m the one who made it so. I made you remember only certain things from your past.”

Are you following?” Jack asked Gibbs quietly. Gibbs shrugs.

“Alex,” continued Tia, “Do you have any dreams, something from the pass, which you can’t understand?”

“Y-yes, I have it almost every night. I am on this island…”

“And there’s a Golden Hawk?”

Alex was surprised, “Yes!How did you…”

“That’s where you were born Alexander. Golden Hawk Island.”

That caught Ragetti attention.

“Golden Hawk Island?”

“You’ve heard of it?” asked Pintel

“I heard many tales about Golden Hawk Island; named after the Golden Hawk that was found there; Thought that it was a myth.”

“Of the many things the island was,” Tia stands up, “A Myth, it is not. It existed a few years ago. But your parents were able to escape, before it disappeared.”

“Disappeared? How?”

“That’s one of the things you’ll have to find out, Alexander. This is your destiny: To find Golden Hawk Island.”

“How can he find something that isn’t there?” Asked Anna

Tia turns to Jack, “Do you have the map?”

Jack smiles, “I do, and I was hoping…”

“That I’ll decipher it?” she smiles

“You see,” Jack said, “I don’t even have to tell you.”

“But you’ll have to tell me about that Evil Force that was raised last night!” Tia suddenly snapped.

Jack smile fades. “I rather give you the short version. I won the map from that friend of mine- Roger. He didn’t take it well. Killed the dealer, who was in fact a witch doctor, and turned into a walking talking voodoo -powered skeleton that nearly destroyed half of Tortuga…”

Gibbs tries to help Jack out. “Then when all seemed lost, Alex here confronts the great beast with the sword. He stabs it into the ground and then there was this light that came from it, it pushed Roger back, and we were able to escape!”

Tia seemed to know that this would happen, but did not show it. “Roger is becoming powerful,” she steps closer to Jack who steps back.“Now that he has voodoo powers, he will stop at nothing getting his vengeance on witty Jack, even if that means he has to destroy the Caribbean! Why can’t I send you somewhere without jeopardizing the Caribbean?!”

Everyone looks at Jack. “I-I guess it’s a bad time to mention that he can raise the dead to do his bidding…”

Tia was now deadly serious. “Then he is stronger than I thought! His powers grow! And, if what Gibbs said is true, it looks like Alexander is the only one that can stop him.”

Alex was caught off guard. “W-What? Why me? Why can’t it be Jack?!” he points a finger to Jack.

“Let’s not start pointing people out, mate,” Jack said, “Namely me."

Tia turns to Alex. “The sword let me see.”

Alex hands Tia the sword. She runs her hands on the blade’s side.

“I thought so…” she said

“Thought what?’ asked Alex

“This sword, that I had Jack steal…”

“That I stole…”said Alex

“The sword that youstole,” said Tia “Is from the island. It can now be confirmed. A swordsman made it, and it is rumored that each sword he makes has voodoo powers. And it is true. It’s the only sword that is known to survive the disappearance of the island. Somehow, the Navy got a hold of it.”

“You knew about this,” Said Alex to Jack, “That’s why you wanted me steal the sword – to stop this Roger guy from taking over the Caribbean!”

Jack stutters, “I did not!” he turns to the rest of the crew, “Honestly! The whole thing is just purely coincidental. How I was supposed to know?”

“Alexander,” Tia directs her attention to him, “You’re the only one that can do it-”

“No, no,” Alex shakes his head, “There’s got to be another way.” He didn’t want anything to do with this. All he wanted to know is who killed his parents. And now he has all of this to be burdened with.

“There isn’t, Alexander. You can do this.”

“How can I? Tell me.”

“Your instinct. I saw it in you when your parents came to me years ago. You always want to be the leader, you’re aggressive, and you hate to show weakness…” Alex glances at Anna when she said this.

“This leads me to your middle name, Nero Decimus.”

Alex sighs and rubs his eyes. With all the things being reveled to him, he was to weary to fight it.

“What about it?”

“Can you remember why your parents gave you that name?”

“No, but I have a feeling that you do…”

“Nero Decimus was a famous roman gladiator –Never defeated. He was known for his fearlessness, leadership, and aggressiveness, skills he later shown on the battlefield. Skills you have in your blood…”

Alex scoffs, “So, I’m somehow related to this gladiator?”he laughs

Tia remains serious.

Alex stops laughing. “Oh, you don’t expect me to believe that cockamamie bit, do you?”

“Aye, Alexander, I do. Think back! Think about the times you wanted to prove yourself in something, but you hold back. Think about the times when you showed no fear when you were in trouble, think about the times you were rebellious when you were young.”

Jack laughs, “Him, Rebellious?”

Tia turns around, “Aye Jack, just like you when you were young. Hopefully he doesn’t turn out like you.”

Alex runs a hand through his hair, and walks towards the door. “I need some air…think things over…” he brushes past Pintel as he goes outside. Basil was about to go with him, but Anna was the first to move.

“Everything will make since to him,” Tia said, “give him time, and he’ll understand.”

Jack walks forward, as if nothing happened. “Well! Now that that’s settled, let’s move on to our next order of business- the map.”

Gibbs chuckles and stands next to Basil, “That’s Jack for you. Always wants to get to business, doesn’t matter who it is, whatever he has is the most important.”

Basil nods, not really listening. As Jack went over the map, Basil wondered how Alex was taking his ‘new’ responsibilities.

:excited: I'm speechless for the content ... I can't say anything critical about it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
Now for the wait ... - sighs -
I know it's too much to ask for more chapters so soon, since you had a very long 'meditation' to release those two monumental chapters. But if you could cut down on the our waiting time, that would be greatly appreciate it! ;)

Excellent job, Basil! As always!
