2018: One for the Lore Books
Ahoy, all!
It’s been a while since we’ve written one of these, hasn’t it? Well, we’re back this time to discuss 2018. That’s right, we decided to write up a year in review for TLOPO! Compiling a list of everything that’s been accomplished this year was quite lengthy but none of this could have been possible without your support! We thank you all for sharing such an eventful year with us and we hope to carry the same momentum into 2019! Now, without further ado, let’s take a look!
The year started off with one of the most anticipated updates in our history, the implementation of the Raven’s Cove Story Quest all the way back in version 1.8.0. This was an exciting time in the community and it set the year up for success. Raven’s Cove was followed up in February with the return of the Port Royal invasions which were accompanied by a GM event and redeem codes. However, we weren’t done in February! This was only the beginning. Forsaken Shallows, a new cave on Isla Tormenta, was released on March 24th. This ambitious update brought along 19 new cursed blades including some entirely brand new weapon models, 6 new bosses and a new enemy type, Spout. Watching the scramble to loot these new weapons was definitely a highlight of the year for us, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
When May arrived, it was time to address PvP, which needed some attention. The Mayhem feature was overhauled accompanied by a brand new guild rank, Co-Guildmaster! This new rank added some complexity to guilds that were sorely needed! This was a great update as we transitioned into the summer where many big things happened.
The summer started off eventful, our content team had been working tirelessly to bring you a horde of new lootable clothing such as cavalier hats and bonnets. New bright colors were also added which included bright pink, electric blue, gold and bright purple. There was not a gold room that was empty for the next few weeks! This update also included a wave of nostalgia, a secret shop that had 2008 items such as clothing and tattoos. The summer culminated with Team PvP returning to the Caribbean as well as cannons rams and sailing items becoming functional.
After a bit of a lull in the fall, Tortuga Invasions entered the game as well as the new ship kicking feature. TLOPO also began supporting Discord’s Rich Presence API. We also added brand new weapons with the re-release of Hollowed Woods! The year finished off with a winter flare, the Yuletide Manor and moonstones entered the picture accompanied by the Frost family who will trade their valuable weapons for moonstones.
