I'm sorry if it has been repeated before but do we have an estimated date that the rewritten POTC will be issued out to all of those who want to play the game?
Not at this time.
Wait, so we're only allowed two accounts? I was planning on creating a few more so I could have a couple founders. Also, I was gonna double log to try and get crew rep if none of my friends were online. I don't wanna start an argument, but I'm just wondering, what's wrong with having more than two?
Unlimited Access will be free. Most players only played 3-4 pirates anyway, and a few has had as many as 8. With two accounts, that will be a maximum of 8 characters per person that you can create.

As far as double logging goes, it will probably be patched. (This is still in debate, but at this moment, our stance is that this was never intended. We consider it to be a glitch/exploit) The fact is, this puts a heavy strain on your computer, diminishing your experience. Not to mention, a few have expressed their feelings as this is a form of cheating.

As to your question of "what's wrong with having more than two?" The simple answer is Data Storage. We don't have the resources to house 20 Million accounts, so we have to limit people. (I personally know people who had 2-3 Unlimited Access accounts and a few basic accounts as well.)

Well, now I'm confused since the person in this video:
said as many as possible...

@jzfredskins

Any chance of releasing some developer bios? Before the alpha launch date?

It would alleviate a lot of my concerns. I would like to see all officially involved with the project talk openly and honestly about their past experience with POTCO, who their main Pirates were, and most importantly why they got involved with the project.

One thing I've noticed throughout the project's lifetime is it's seemingly too easy to involve yourself with the project in an official capacity. I understand the desire to give everyone who asks the opportunity to contribute meaningfully, but it does make me wonder if appropriate foresight is given to decisions made at another remake.

Moreover I have noticed (and I know it's been brought up before) that there are quite a few people who had interrupted other's experiences in POTCO which are "staff" for this project. I believe strongly in forgiveness (and that holding grudges is a terrible way to go about things in general), and that these people should not be excluded solely because of their previous actions.. but what concerns me is I have not seen these people talk about their pasts openly and honestly.

Their contributions to the project alone may be enough for some to overlook their past behavior, but while I'm willing to forgive them I can't help but feel they haven't earned it yet.

That is an AMAZING idea! I'll pass this along to the others. I'm sure we will do this before the FULL release of the game, but most of the dev team is preparing a major update so it will be a few weeks before we get the ball rolling on this. I'll be sure to update you all on the details of this as time goes on.

Thank you. It would go a long way in instilling trust in skeptics like myself if it is done properly.

I don't want anybody to feel like they can't be honest about their past behavior for fear of being disliked or anything. I think it would be equally unethical to be upset with someone for telling the truth as it would be for them to lie (or lie by omission) in the first place.

In truth I (and I'm sure many others) are already well aware of what these people have done in the past.. what makes me uneasy is the fact that it has been a bit of a touchy subject thus far.

I would gladly answer any questions/interviews about it if anyone wants to ask me

I watched the video and didn't see anything about accounts numbers. At this moment, our stance is a strict limit of TWO accounts per person. (Giving a total of 8 pirates, although we may expand the character limit to 8 and have a strict limit of ONE account per person.)
It was in the comments.

Has any progress been made towards the above ^ yet, @jzfredskins?

Also @TheGleamings, what news have you heard lately from your brother concerning whether another remake can receive some sort of verification again from Disney/DIMG that the email message another remake received a long time ago from "The Mouse" :piratemickey:grants another remake current permission to proceed further towards releasing the emulator?

~ Unless I am hugely mistaken (and I do apologize ahead of time if I do get it wrong), the most recent updates coming from both POTHS and another remake are posted below:

POTHS -

  • Kickstarter v.s. Indiegogo - Gone is the decision for POTHS to rely upon "Indiegogo" (as that crowd-funded option was played-down in exchange for the more popular 'Kickstarter' which POTHS expects to rely upon to achieve it's 20k funding goal, within 45 days). As a result, ex-POTCO players whom are too young to own a credit card but rely upon the PayPal option to donate will not receive a refund if the 20k goal of the Kickstarter is not reached.
  • POTHS website - Gone is the "official" POTHS website as the decision was made by POTHS to rely upon their forums site to cater to and to reach out towards the (potential) POTHS community.
  • Lack of POTHS updates - Gone are the excuses of old as POTHS promises to churn out "weekly" updates
another remake -
  • Alpha key sign-ups have now seized. Soon, those players/testers chosen for the Alpha-version of another remake will be contacted
  • The Alpha-version of another remake will be "single-player" mode (offline) rather than "multiplayer" mode (online) on account of server and coding delays
  • The Beta-version of another remake will likely be "multiplayer" mode (online)

@Shamus The Brute: My brother says that we still have permission but did still point out that if any profit is made, then we are gone, so we have to be extra careful; I'll also be speaking with Josh Kenway, the leader of our Guilds feature, as he claims to have ties with DIMG too.

Regarding the news, you are correct except for two things: regarding the Beta version, it will be multi-player. If that means extending the alpha period, then it will. Also, proper daily alpha updates will begin again after alpha release.

Stay savvy!

Question: Since apparently the Head of Weaponry and Item Development has been kicked off of the Staff, how will that affect the launch of the alpha and/or the beta version/s of another remake, if at all?

Yes! We are doing it, but its not something that's going to get done soon. I'll get it done as soon as possible.

He quit, and it should have no affect on the development of another remake. His job was mainly for NEW updates AFTER the full release.

@TheGleamings - I would like to make one last ditch effort here on this issue and then just give up!

*Who exactly did your brother talk to concerning this issue - or - what is their (current) Disney or Disney Interactive title?

Also, it's good to be understanding the possible ties that Josh may have and if it's OK, please do us the favor here to post and to keep us updated on whatever information you do happen to obtain from the inquiry. Thank You.;)

My brother doesn't actually work for DIMG however has a friend of his who works there, I'm not sure which sector however.

I think Josh is on these forums... not sure. Josh.Kenway is the person if you see him, but I'll message him soon.

Stay savvy!

My fault. I did not imply that your brother actually did. I stated only that he does have a contact (whether directly or indirectly) with an employee whom represents Disney or Disney Interactive.

So...I guess I am left to assume that the information that another remake is basing the whole development of the emulator upon is "second-hand" information. You know, it would have actually been nice to have known that from the beginning when I first began to pursue this matter concerning the email message. As things remain now, another remake does not seem to be too concerned about appropriately pursuing this matter and for that, I do not understand why.

Remember, extraordinary claims require extraordinary "evidence."

IF such permission had actually been granted by Disney directly, then I will recount my concern and admit to everyone here that I was wrong but as it stands now...the ONLY evidence that seems to have been presented publicly for everyone to view is the pic of the message itself - coming from myself.

Anyway, thanks for your response and I guess if the rest of the community is not concerned about this, then neither shall I.

Sitting back and listening, sounds like its time to be Heartbroken again!!!! So be it!!! Give me my sin again!!!!!

And that's fine. There is nothing wrong with you or anyone else feeling this way - Jim. From the way in which you have worded your comment, odds are fairy likely that you are either a teen, young adult, or an adult. Not that this matters much in the scheme of everything but I am an adult as well (if you are too).

Look. The biggest problem that I am currently having with both POTHS and another remake is that there remains a (potential) demographic age of player that to the best of my knowledge both POTHS and another remake are unwilling to focus upon yet. What demographic am I referring to? It's young kids (mere 'children' if you will)! As an adult and as a parent, I am probably overstepping my bounds in saying this but, for some reason, I felt that I had an OBLIGATION to do everything in my power to assure that these kids do not become "heartbroken" again.

Let's face it. We have all been through enough heartache and disappointment as a result of Disney not giving a rat's @#%$! about the player loyalty which came from the years of everyone playing POTCO! Now that the game is gone, both POTHS and another remake have come onto the scene but they have each come onto the scene so strongly that, I feel, each are missing the whole entire point of what we have ALL been through (since Sept. 19th)! *Does this make sense to anyone ???

Specifically, what bothers me the most about how things are developing for both POTHS and another remake include those things I will list below (note: the following are of my own opinion alone and do not reflect the opinion of others or any particular forums community):

POTHS -
  • A reliance upon a forums platform as opposed to a website of their own. (Relying upon a forums to promote the game's development, such a decision disrupts the potential traffic older, more established forums communities could receive that have actually been catering to the needs of such players for years, long before POTCO was mismanaged by Disney)
  • The recent decision to revert back to the reliance upon Kickstarter (as opposed to 'Indiegogo'). *This decision directly affects younger players whom donate via PayPal if the "fixed" option of Indiegogo is chosen (as there donations could be refunded back to them, along with everyone else, if funding is unsuccessful). In contrast, Kickstarter provides no such refund at all for such players whom often rely upon PayPal to donate as a result of not being of age to own or use a credit card
another remake -
  • An initial reliance upon a forums platform as opposed to working website of their own. (Relying upon a forums to promote the game's development, such a decision disrupts the potential traffic older, more established forums communities could receive that have actually been catering to the needs of such players for years, long before POTCO was mismanaged by Disney)
  • A lack of initiation and general unconcern towards any sort of follow-up to the "email" message initially received from Disney which gave another remake a green light. (Since the time of the email, Disney Interactive has been plagued by mass 'employment layoffs' and the odds are more than likely that the individual or his/her colleagues or upper management that had given another remake permission to proceed with the emulator did not notify or enlighten the proper individuals concerning such a matter if their own jobs were in fact, dismissed)
Anyway, I apologize to both projects (and their developers) but unfortunately, this is just how I feel. Hopefully soon (and I do mean this), I hope to be proven wrong with all of this skepticism I am currently feeling. Thank Ye ~ ;)
