It's pretty common, but I enjoyed The Hunger Games series.

Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Hunger Games, Redwall, Left Behind, any book by Ted Dekker or Frank Peretti, Castaways of the Flying Dutchman (same author as the Redwall series), and other series too.
