Ahoy there. This is a Friday the 13th event that lasts for this weekend ONLY. It happens every 2 hours (Eastern time - ODD hours). There are several ways to avoid this (going in buildings/launching a ship). You are given a 5 min warning for a reason.

Hey there Albomedic, Sorry to hear you wear stuck in jail like that. Like Boots said above there are ways to avoid it sort of, It also helps somewhat to be on a non-popular server.
Despite some people camping jail doors and such, The event can be fun. I'm not a fan of PvP that much but I do enjoy the event, always have since the original game. Maybe give it another try once your a higher level (assuming your a low level).

I understand how you feel but we have no recourse. Those higher than us want it this way. Especially those who are in the one guild causing the problem. I really don't believe Disney intended for Muerto to be played out the way it is going. Tonight several of their guild members came to where a large group was grinding and announced you better run and hide cause we are coming. They know we don't want to participate but this is their reaction. And one person that helps out in this forum is in that guild and said nothing. He stood right there with them. Why are they allowed to pick on people that don't care to participate in the event and why are we more or less forced to participate or just sit around or get on a ship. No other event limits us like this. All we asked earlier was to have a safe server, tlopo did it before. They can participate in the event with others who want to participate. We don't want to stop them. But please give us an option of doing something we enjoy. Is it really too much to ask?

Should probably lock this thread...
Yes because when a new player literally decides to create a forums account just to express their opinion on a topic, they should immediately be met with their post getting locked and them getting silenced? Not a good look if this game wants to keep it's community around. Not a good look for this community if we want to keep people around.

Once again, let this be clear. No one person OR guild has direct influence on the unanimous decisions of the TLOPO staff, so please stop trying to spread that around. As the just @ArabellaDrummond stated upon the locking of the previous two threads this same conversation took place on, and I quote:

"It's nice to see the community coming together and discussing current ingame content/offering suggestions, but please remember that there are real people on the other side of a computer screen who deserve to be treated with respect just like everyone else.

The TLOPO team will consider some of the suggestions made to revise the event for the future".

In the case of a new player or lower level pirates, I definitely understand, but it really IS one event that takes place less than a week's worth of time each year, spread out over any number of months and then October. People enjoy it, people don't, but trying to pinpoint your disgruntle with the event on one person or a GUILD even is ridiculous.

As of here, I'm letting this topic rest. I've said my part, and as has the official reply from staff, again I quote:
"The TLOPO team will consider some of the suggestions made to revise the event for the future."

Fair Winds,
Misha

EDIT: Most of you know this but let's keep this civil. Warnings will be dealt as per the usual.

There's already a thread that's been locked and this thread is about the same thing which will lead to the same arguments and will get locked as well eventually. I didn't know the op is new to the forums so my bad. Isn't there a rule on here to not make the same threads more than once?

@Misha? I need your input on this please. (I need educated because I do not know). Are players permitted to at least report in-game on a TLOPO affiliated staff member...if they happen to see things unfair or in a different light?

Thank you.

Correct. Staff are humans, mistakes do happen, if one does something that is against guidelines, action can be taken against them like any other player. In the case of something like this, though, and I would like to include @StarfireRose77 as an indirect response here as well, that it isn't fair to think hypothesize one person or a small group have control over staff choices.

For the record, I meant no direct offense in my original post, however it's discouraging to see that players will believe that the staff are that easily swayed. The choice behind this big rut with Muertos Moon safe servers was a unanimous decision after observing the results with it enabled, and they are being modified to hopefully create a better experience while also preserving it as it was in POTCO as well.

I think that the catalyst driving most of the angst though is the fact that certain players/guilds are outright being singled out by other players whom readily are aware (via this forums) of the sensitive feelings now been addressed towards the Muertos Moon event. Involved with some of this targeting is a TLOPO affiliated person.

It is my hope that whether or not this individual shared a part or a role to play towards such recent activity, that he or she might do the honorable thing and distance him or herself from others whom are purposefully driving the angst around some of the controversy surrounding this year's Muertos Moon event until an official decision can be made by TLOPO in how it would like to address (now) the pro and con arguments made specifically about the event.

*Since the event has consumed approximately/roughly 90% of the discussion on the forums lately...one can rightly assume the majority of TLOPO staff are highly aware now of the sensitivity behind the arguments made, savvy?

Since you included me in your post I will explain myself. The reason I brought up said staff person was because he was the one that posted in the thread that there would be no safe servers. And I had no idea he was in the guild that was causing the commotion until seeing him and the guild over his head. I think it would have been wise to have had someone else post no safe servers that was not involved with said guild. One of the reasons it upset me so was I went up to him to talk to him about it and one of his fellow guild members was rude to me and I told her I was talking to him not her. At that time my discussion with him was in whispers to keep it between him and me. Next, the other guild member announced to our crowd as the five minute warning was sounded for Muerto, "better run and hide cause we are coming to get you". He said absolutely nothing. This was already a touchy situation and that didn't help. We had already been through three rounds of them coming at us. The only thing we did different tonight was several of the higher levels stayed by the entrance to the cave and fought with them there so those of us at the boss could keep playing. I guess that didn't set well with them cause that is when more from their guild came and stood around while we played and all this occurred.

unfortunately.. it would seem that it's the "looters need to stop complaining" thing that even tlopo staff have bought into, when it's not just looters, but rather the majority of the entire community who is upset.

I trust they will make a sound decision about all of this. As time moves forward and more players have experiences, things should change .;)

I trust that they will too. I don't want to be overly dramatic or cynical about this, but in some ways the community depends on it. It's just that the community consistently gets tense every single muertos event without fail. I don't want muertos to be "neutered" but i dont see that as particularly healthy for the community to have that happening every year

Muerto Moon has been around since Potco as we all know. It was not one of my favorite things to do but did participate at times. Sometimes guild against another guild. Sometimes friends vs friends. Sometimes just a group of us against others who were out there. But this past Oct and this time has been different. I think this is what is causing the upset. If a group or guild or a few people want to do the event that is great! If everyone wants to do it great!!! What I don't understand is a group/guild going after people that don't have the desire to participate. Why don't they find others that want to participate, ask another guild to join in. Do it amongst themselves. People out in the open are fair game. When a group/guild goes deep into a cave to seek out people not participating, what is the sport in that? Can someone please tell me why?? I don't think anyone is against Muerto Moon in itself. I have not heard anyone say do away with it. I never complained about it till relentlessly being hunted down with them knowing we have no desire to join in. Just thought this would be something for the devs to think about in their decision.

They just want attention, to disrupt players' looting experience, and to laugh at those that complain and have to go back to the looting spot they were at. It sucks that there are these types of players that find joy in other players' misery.

  • Muertes Moon forces everyone, who do not want to play, to be victims of others aggressions and abuse.
  • Some people do not like to aggress on others, or be aggressed upon. It may be as simple as this, or there may be other psychological factors involved. For instance, some of those who have been in the military, have been abused, or bullied may find trauma in this. This, also, has been touted as a family friendly game where little ones play.
  • The charm of Pirates is not that it’s another run of the mill PVP game (and there are many), and why it seems to be expanding that way, with the overwhelming support of staff, is beyond me - although I’m willing to support it, to a great extent.
  • We proved, in the last Muertes, that the vast majority of players did not want to play, as evidenced by their attendance on ‘safe’ servers.
