Suggestion Feedback and Suggestions - News Post Response

And the fun of thinking about the future shall begin once more! For the most part I'll attempt to be "frank" with my thoughts of what "could" be done.
I'll start with story:
There are a few questions that will need to be answered before this can be put into motion, starting with whether the new story line will take place at "endgame", for players who have finished most of the game's current content (And in this case assume that they are level 40+ players with a few weapons/skills already maxed), or whether this new story content will be able to be accessed by newer/lower level players (Effectively 10-20 level, a bit past just freshly joined but still have plenty of things to do). What this choice gives us, is either to make completely new/fresh story content that will take place after the Black Pearl quest line and the current content (For level 40+), or to make new content that coincides or adds to the continuity of the current content in game (Something that players level 10-20 can pick up and possible do alongside current quests and still have the story make sense). Depending on which of the choices you pick, will lead to my next thoughts on this subject.

New/Fresh "End Game" Content:
I would have this form of content start at a point where the main story has been completed and you have a clean slate to work with. There are many ways you can go about this, but the first thing that I think should be confirmed first, is what is at the end of this new content? Mainly, what reward will be given to the player? Rare/Epic weapons? Access to new island(s)? Perhaps you may even decide to give the player a new kind of Ship altogether? Perhaps they unlock a new form of skill or special feature you have decided to introduce?
(Side Note:If it is a game changing feature however, I would almost have the quest start earlier if it is a feature that will take time to get used to)

If you just want to skip too what I want to add, begin reading here:
What if you made a new island, whose main enemy were the "Cannibals"? Along with this new type of enemy you can now weave a completely new story separate from the current content and still have it coincide with the movies(Assuming you are trying to have your story line connect with the movies, in which if you don't, that is completely fine an has a whole different range of possibilities). Along with the story, this could add an array of items that could change how we play, or add to it. Firstly, you could add different weapons. And no, I don't mean you have to add completely new skills, but let me give a few examples: Blowgun, you could make them usable under the "shooting" skill. Hand-axes, these would be a bit tricky, but perhaps you could have throwing hatchets along with daggers? And my last thought, Spears. These are hard to picture where they would go, but try to hear me out. What if... they were a form of Staff? Voodoo powers with Melee combos? Yes that would take a fair amount of balancing and be hard to do, but I thought I might as well throw it out there. Of course you should be able to add "Cannibal"-inspired swords, voodoo dolls, and a few daggers as well, but the first three would need more than just a re-skin of a different model. Moving on from weapons, we also have Aesthetic items as well. You could add a fair amount of new tattoos or clothing pertaining to the Cannibals. Maybe the players Do want finger/toe necklaces? You never know.
Of course if you don't want to use specifically the Cannibals, what about adding an island of Aztecs? You could keep most of the changes I mentioned, just under a different name. And you don't need to have the Aztecs specifically as "enemies" either. Just a bit of a side thought.

Moving on to early/mid-game content (Level 10-mid 20's):
This I believe would be harder to make story-wise, assuming you want it to be compatible with the current "World". Unless you already happen to be planning a complete rework of the world and story in game, there is only so much you can do. However, you could do a simple quest chain consisting of islands that already exist, perhaps even using NPC's that already exist for plot points and such.Otherwise you "could" add another weapon type, but going more than the six we have will add an extreme amount of unneeded hassle, or so I think anyway.
I honestly don't have any particularly good ideas for this range, other than that if you have new integral or important features to be used in game coming out, the sooner they are given to the player base so that they can become accustomed to using said feature, the better.

If we are just looking at smaller features to be added, these are a few that have already been said, I just want to reiterate them for the sake of their usefulness:
Having a player bank/storage facility, even if it is clothing specific.
Making a guild hub. I can't think of a perfect way this could be done, could go from having a guild "Island", or something a bit more feasible, like a guild Tavern or Trading house of some sort.
Going into the actual depths of a ship is also quite an interesting idea.

That is kinda it for my thoughts on the subject, even if the ideas themselves aren't useful on their own, perhaps it will spurn the creative thinking of other Pirates looking toward the horizons of this world, Aye?

good brainstorming, I share the idea of extra content. I mean disney stopped caring for updates that doesn't mean we do! Originally there were going to be more chapters after the first one (black pearl) I believe chapter 2 was about the kraken, they found files in the potco directory which had the sound for the kraken in there. sadly they never completed it.

Hand-axes, these would be a bit tricky, but perhaps you could have throwing hatchets along with daggers?
tomahawks perhaps? they are throw-able axes, neat idea!

I agree, I was thinking of adding the ship of the line when you mastered sailing? make it cost like 200k, which would be balanced in my opinion.
also adding enemy ships of the brig line would make sense.
or an accessible cabin.

One thing I personally would like to see is more detailed and cooler looking tattoos. Also possibly some more jewelry quests for an expanded variety of the currently available "colored" jewelry quests.

When using a broadsword or grenade, it is common to get multiple pouches / chests from groups of enemies at once. It would be helpful if there was some way to combine the loot into one container so that the pirate could just open one and still be able to quickly and effectively sort through all of the loot. It can be confusing when you have 4 or 5 pouches and you forget which you have looked through already.

I was thinking that the game could use some seasons. It can sometimes snow and maybe leaves fall off the trees when the season is winter. When the season is Spring, trees grow.
Also I think that the Kraken should rarely come out and attack big ships (War Sloop+) so the players can battle the Kraken.

There's some cannons in the files that were supposed to be used for customization:
latest

Heavy Cannon
Higher Damage; short range.

latest

Great Cannon
Less damage; long range

latest

Bronze Cannon
Better range and damage than the basic cannon; but much more expensive.

latest

Skull Cannon
I'm not sure what this one would be, but it sure is spooky!

You should be able to upgrade individual pairs of deck cannons on your ship in the ship customization menu, depending on your play style. For example, if you often find yourself close to powerful enemies, you would outfit your ship with Heavy Cannons, and if you wanted to keep yourself a good distance from pursuing ships (like bounty hunters), you would buy long range Great Cannons.

looks like a upgrades version of a grappling hook to me, perhaps it boosts the speed of reeling the ship in

Yeah, that would be awesome! Years ago in POTCO, I used to play with my cousins all the time. My oldest cousin (who, of course, knew everything about POTCO ;) ) used to scare me with tales of the deadly Kraken. He told me that it only appeared in Uncharted Waters, but that defeating it would drop a valuable rare item. However, since the Kraken was so incredibly difficult to beat, nobody had ever defeated it. Or so his tale went. Later, I saw through the holes in his story and figured out that there wasn't, in fact, a Kraken boss battle, but until then, I was completely obsessed with finding it. I used to sail around aimlessly in the Uncharted Waters for literally HOURS trying to find a boss that didn't even exist in the game, lol. Anyway, the point of my story is that I love the idea of a Kraken boss. Other people have mentioned extending invasions so that parts of them can be fought at sea or against Davy Jones, so maybe the Kraken can be incorporated into a completely separate invasion set, possibly entirely at sea? I don't know, but I'm super pumped about all of these new ideas!

I'm probably not the first to suggest this, or the last, but I think we should have eyepatches. What's a pirate without an eyepatch? You could wear one on your left or right eye, maybe even both! I'd make a pirate named Blindbeard just for that.

New features:
-Pirate housing, where you can store your clothes and weapons in chests
-Trading system, combining weapons, apparel, and gold
-Detailed ship customization
-Strongholds, which require a small crew to take down. This involves first attacking by sea, then docking and taking the stronghold by land. Holds should re spawn a while after being destroyed , have quests leading up to them, and have different levels of difficulty. There should be different types of strongholds for the different factions (Undead, Navy, EITC, Davy Jones, ghosts, etc. (more in the future?)

The Story:
Like other games, the story should be sorted into chapters, with a boss battle at the end. These chapters should contain large references to the movies with even more focus on previous POTCO lore. Here is how I think it should go in a very general sense:

1. Black Pearl storyline (duh)
-Main enemies: navy, EITC, undead
-Boss: Goliath
2. Raven's cove (duh #2)
-Main enemy: ghosts
-Boss: El Patron
3. Muertos-Blackguard Concordant (lore!)
-Main enemies: Casa de Muertos, EITC, undead
-Boss: Captain Ezekial Rott (possibly ship battle)
-Boss 2: Captain Ellison Shaw (also, possibly ship battle, maybe two boss boats at the same time?)
4. Davy Jones's curse (movie lore!!!)
-Main enemies: Davy's crew
-Boss: THE KRAKEN
-Boss 2: The Flying Dutchman
5. Jolly Roger (the final chapter)
-Main enemy: undead, Casa De Muertos
-Boss: The Harkaway (Jolly's ship)
-Boss 2: Jolly Roger

With all of these story updates, there should be increased level caps, added weapon types, new islands, new enemy types (including ghost ships, Davy Jones boats, and Casa de Muertos ships), new abilities for existing weapons, new clothes, new weapons, and more events with different locations (treasure fleets, types of invasions, bounty hunters etc.)

And with the story, you could switch some chronology around and add more in between, but Jolly Roger should definitely be the last boss.

Thanks for reading!

I haven't read all the other posts yet so sorry if I'm repeating something but here's my suggestions for now...

1.A new Island Haiti with a new class of enemy only found on Haiti, zombies and a Witchdoctor Boss that looks a bit like a Mummy ie . not a Skeleton ( I know it's not directly connected to the movies but a lot in TLOPO isn't and I'm sure Jack will end up there soon... a bit like when he was the great sacrifice Juju thing)

2. Off line in game messaging.

3. A search tool in game with messaging to contact long lost Pirate buddies.

4. A guild messaging announcement system.

5.Oh yeah and two more slots for SHIPS there's plenty of room on the tab!

PS. Forgot to mention as I always do lot's more hidden entrances like "Cave of Lost Souls", easy to implement, stick them behind waterfalls, bushes anywhere! Don't announce them let the rumors spread:piratemickey:

That's all that comes to mind for now, got to get back to the Caribbean;)
Arrr!

:pirate ship:

I want to say getting BETTER Graphic Details!! For things like the Characters [Players & NPCs], The Ocean, Ships and other items for now and later in-game.

[ That is one thing I wish the old pirates game had! They had all the equipment for it too! They just were all about getting profit and were LAZY [ harsh to say ] in my eyes FOR IT. I know this would take a lot of time to do, so no rush at all!]

(( Ability to Change Name in-game if needed somehow ))

The Ship is where the home is, and home is where the heart is!

What about a sort of "housing system" for TLOPO?
Here's the idea : Every Ship has a captain's cabin. The Captain's Cabin will act as TLOPO's "Housing" of sorts.
  • The Light Ships, being the smallest, do not have a Captain's Cabin. I'm looking at you, Light Sloop.
  • The Medium Ships is where you get your first Captain's Cabin.
  • The War Ships, as you might guess, has the biggest Captain's Cabin.

  • The Medium Captain's Cabin will be relatively small, having a few chests and wardrobes to store the various things you've collected(Weapons, Clothes), but is relatively shabby in appearance.
  • Once you've upgraded to a War Ship, your Captain's Cabin has gotten significantly bigger, and allows for purchase of various furnitures and decorations, in addition to having more storage for items.
