  1. You're playing in what looks to be low graphics settings.
  2. TLOPO is not optimized to work with the latest capabilities of the Panda3D game engine. Why? POTCO was designed in 2004, not 2018.
  3. TLOPO likely won't update the graphics to support the latest features because there's a nostalgia factor to the game the way it is.
That's what you should have put on your post x)

Well said Mike.

I dont think thats how that works
Yea, I kind of know that. Like they're getting rid of 32bit support. There's plenty of reasons for doing that, not the least just the duplication overhead in code I surmise.

So, keeping numerous graphic api's active would be redundant.

But then again, it was a little bit of pirate humor. Me new bird said it.
I lost Squawkey in a unfortunate 'accident', but me new bird Yappy won't be wonderin' off because i got em chained to me earring.
But if he don't be shuttin' up, he's goin' to have a unfortunate 'accident' pretty soon.

The top two are photos correct? At least the car may be, cause no one has that kind of detail, maybe even the mountains. I saw one of the top race sims at the store the other day, on a 4K and a monster graphic system and although truly amazing, I could still perceive the digital.
No, all of them are in Panda3D. The fact that you think they're real life goes to show how high quality the game engine is.

Number 3 is interesting. How about the devs update the graphics totally, and allow people to download one or the other, you know for nostalgia factors. I've nothing to be nostalgic about as this is my first tlopo. If I want nostalgia graphics, I'll go play the original doom or minecraft. I get the classic look thing, but a lot of people love this game and would like it to play smoother. Updating to todays features I think would allow 'smoothness' to be enjoyed.
You'd be maintaining two entirely separate MMOs at that point. It'd be way too difficult for TLOPO to do that, especially with the limited resources the team operates on as it is right now.

I see. Is the artwork created by a photo? And can the api actually animate that depth or is that a high rez frame only as an example.
Rendering and then animating are different processes I believe. Can panda move all those polys around?
The mountains would seem to use extreme factoring.

thanks.

I play in low graphics most of the time to keep from getting more lag, disconnects and low fps in well populated areas. Is there something I can do to be able to play in higher graphics without experiencing these problems. I have a good computer with plenty of RAM and an Nvidia graphics card. Would appreciate it if you could give a little help in this area. Thanks

May you please reply to me here with the following information:

1. Your CPU model; for example: Intel i7-7700k
2. Your GPU model; for example: Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti
3. Your RAM amount, type, and frequency; for example: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz
4. Your storage type; for example: 512GB SSD or 1 TB 7200RPM HDD.
5. Your OS; for example: Windows 10 Professional
6. Is this a laptop or a desktop?

May you please find the information I asked for about your computer and post it here? If I find a computer online, it might not be the same specs you have. I'd rather you find those so I know for certain.

I posted it but forgot to put it in as a reply so here are the stats again.

I do have Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.8GHz, 2808 MHz, 4 Cores, 8 logical Processors,
12 RAM that is all I could find on that,
NVidia GeForce GTX 1050,
1 TB 7200 RPM HDD (HGST HTS721010A9E630).
I have windows but not professional it is home, also x64.

My computer will be a year old in September. I have seen them on HP website but most of the time I don't see them offering the higher hard drive. I customized mine for that but it looks like maybe I should have went for a better graphics card??

Weird, I didn't see the links in the post but when I was going to reply.
I watched panda in default and panda in higher quality RenderPipeline and it looks clearly like tlopo is running in default.
anyone who watches these types of videos will see that right away. Is this why the game looks, well, simple? Even in my highest graphics tlopo only looks in default.
Perhaps to do the RenderPipeline would be cost prohibitive or server too stressed.

Here's what I'm talking about

This should play TLOPO fine. It might be because it's a 1050. From what I know, TLOPO's working on optimizing the game to make it run a ton better. I'd recommend staying tuned for future updates.

Make sure that you're running your laptop plugged in + on high performance mode (can view this by clicking on the battery). Sometimes laptops like this throttle performance when you aren't plugged in.

Thanks Mike. I always have it plugged in for playing Tlopo and the battery says best performance mode. I so enjoy the game and know this game just gets better and better so I have know doubt someday I will be able to run in higher even when high volumes of pirates are on. Thanks
