Game crash on intial login updates

Windows 10 64bit 4GB RAM
Have never been able to login on this PC. Loaded the game (did several initial updates.)
When trying to log into game Windows closes it during updates. Looks like an issue reported 3 years ago.
the workaround suggested then does not work.

You have probably tried these things already but I will suggest them anyway just to make sure.

1. Have you tried disabling any antivirus software and firewall?
2. Are you running tlopo as administrator?

In the old days you installed something and it worked. Now you have to say yes, download it, yes, let it effect my pc and please don't keep it from talking to the internet. I'm getting too old.
I have now tried: run as admin; "allowing" launcher and main app through firewall; and shut down windows defender
still "stopped working" before and after a restart
