Suggestion Glitches vs New features

Bo Hanson

Buccaneer
I must say I am quite impressed with the progress in development in the pirates realm.

I must also say I am a bit confused. I see new features such as the bones and the additional inventory, but I am still seeing trouble with the "guiding light" during quests. I have written it up on in-game feedback many times.

New features are appreciated, but I'd much rather see the issues resolved.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you

I have brought up this same topic in at least three other games that had long running bugs and put it to the community in the form of a poll that had only two choices.

1: New Content Now! Resolve old bugs as time allows.
2: Stomp The Bugs, Now! Generate new content when the game runs smoothly.

My personal choice is for a game that runs smoothly. I find bugs to be annoying and would rather have limited content that functions well than to have a wealth of content, much of which does not function properly. The better the base game functions, the less buggy new content will tend to be. I always assumed the majority of gamers shared that opinion... but I was wrong. In all three cases, when I ran that poll, people voted new content over resolving old bugs by a margin of 2 to 1. People will always complain about bugs but when you tell them that resolving them will slow the development of new content they tend to change their minds.

Fix weapon skills such as poison or stun immunity. Really detracts the value of these weapons since half of its attributes don't work.
You guys need to understand that the team that implements new content is completely separate from the team that is fixing bugs.

They do not affect each other.

I did not have any knowledge of this until now.
Actually to correct myself I may be wrong. I think I was remembering this.
For the majority of this year, Hollowed Woods was developed exclusively by our content and storyline development teams. Two additional game developers were brought on to help us finish it up within the past month, but the rest of the team has been full speed ahead with development of the main game!
Can a dev correct me?

I have no idea how this game is developed, so you could be right or you could be wrong. In short, I'm just glad this game is being developed in the first place.

Yes. I am well aware that is how it is done for most every game in existence, be it on-line, pc, console, or mobile device. It is pretty much the SOP of the entire gaming industry. It is a matter of resource allocation and I accept it as a relative fact.

That said, there is another "fact" that comes into play here, also relative to resource allocation. From my understanding, the primary goal of TLOPOL is to recreate POC-OL. While adding new content to TLOPOL is a worthy goal, it is not the primary goal. Are the skills needed to write new content so different from the skills needed to rewrite old content that at least some of those resources could not be reallocated?

I confess that I do not possess the skills to be a game dev but I have owned and operated my own business and understand the need to make the best use of available resources. If the primary goal is the recreation of the original game, the majority of resources should be allocated to that task. If anyone can give me a valid reason why this is simply unfeasible, I would be happy to withdraw the suggestion.
