How to still get loot after spawning under the ship

If you teleport or end up in the water under the ship and want to keep your loot, stay there until the ship docks. You'll end up on the island with everyone else and still receive the loot. Everyone accounted for in the crew member count (x/12), will get it, granted they don't crash. Good luck plundering everybody!
