I got hacked

No I wasn't hacked on TLOPO. I got keylogged when using Steam, an online game store. My long time friend asked me to join his game and I did. When I got on the server I was kicked and it said I didn't have the updated version of the map. I had recently reinstalled the game so I assumed that the problem was because of that. When the map installed I was immediately disconnected from Steam and I couldn't so anything. When I checked my account on a Chrome browser, almost $100 was stolen from my account. I was in shock and I immediately locked my account. I changed all my passwords on many sites on another computer and contacted support. I am currently waiting for a response from support via email.

Wow. Sorry to hear that mate, when I was smaller and more vulnerable, I was hacked and I cried and I cried. I was so scared, because the guy had all my information and somehow pictures of me and It was just very weird, but it was so scary. I know how you feel mate. I did the same things you did. I didn't get any money stolen, though (surprisingly). I hope you can get some of the stuff back or something. Sorry to hear about it.

Idk what you aim to gain with this post.

but a keylogger has to be put on your computer by someone or covertly from a download. Now where did you find this map. And what game is it for.

One thing, just wondering -

How did $100 get stolen from your steam account?

From my understanding, any "wallet" money, can only go out of the account through gifting.
- Or did he steal inventory stuff worth $100?
Mind clarifying? :D

For Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. the map "de_inferno" was recently updated and I assumed when I redownloaded the game, the map didn't update. When I was asked to install the game it led me to a file inside my game files. /common/Counter-Strike: Global Offencive/csgo/de_inferno and inside de_inferno.zip was de_inferno.exe. The weird part was I didn't know my friend was hacked because he was typing in a way he would. "Okey" and stuff.

I'm quite confused now but okay..

No map should ever be an exe file. Maps are always a folder with resources in it.

What I'm struggling to understand is where does keylogging come in bc if you had steam open before the download then it doesn't have strokes of your password or user

I've had a Steam account since maybe 2010 and I have never had any cash in the account. I don't even know how you'd keep cash there.
Just sayin'

always get Maps from the steam workshop they are scanned for viruses and are trusted. Also what is your anti virus system
Mine is https://www.malwarebytes.com

Edit also always always always use steam guard and have it hooked up to a phone so this can't happen again.

TLOPO offers two-factor authentication ("2FA") as well. It can be set up by navigating to https://tlopo.com/account and going to the "Security" tab.

We require all of our developers to enable 2FA.

Are you sure that your inventory wasn't missing as part of a server maintenance?

It's nearly impossible for someone to steal your inventory. If you have Steam Guard enabled, a possible trade will take a few days before it's completed. If you have Mobile Authenticator, you will have to confirm the trade through your mobile the moment it takes place. And if you don't have Steam Guard enabled at all, then you can't use trading features by default.

The only way you could get your money lost would be that (a) possible trespasser started buying from within Steam through your wallet. In which case, you can contact Steam support (first 48 hours) to get your money back in exchange of the items purchased.

I"ll provide more information as soon as I get back home.

Steam has put many limitations on trading features. If at least one of the standards isn't being followed, you'll not be able to complete the trade succesfully. Be it that way, and like I've said earlier, you have full control over recent changes (purchases, trading hold etc) for as long as you retain access to your account.

I'm attaching the following arctiles in hope that you'll find a solution to your problem. Be quick because you'll gradually lose the right to get your money back as time goes by.

Trading and Market Restrictions
Steam Refunds

You can request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam—for any reason. Maybe your PC doesn't meet the hardware requirements; maybe you bought a game by mistake; maybe you played the title for an hour and just didn't like it.

It doesn't matter. Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within fourteen days of purchase, and the title has been played for less than two hours. There are more details below, but even if you fall outside of the refund rules we’ve described, you can ask for a refund anyway and we’ll take a look.

You will be issued a full refund of your purchase within a week of approval. You will receive the refund in Steam Wallet funds or through the same payment method you used to make the purchase. If, for any reason, Steam is unable to issue a refund via your initial payment method, your Steam Wallet will be credited the full amount. ~Valve
