ok so i have an FFA project and i have to make a video. i decided to make one on my small chicken farm. but it needs to be 15-20 mins long. so here is were you come in. i need EVERYONE to ask a chicken related question. so i can put the answer in my video. and i will also answer it here. anything at all. from in the egg to what they eat to how to tell weather they are male or female or breed types or even how the auction were i sell them works. anything at all. (must be appropriate) any serious questions will be highly appreciated

I can ask you all that you mentioned up there, but I don't want to 'hog' this thread for myself. So, I'll ask the very beginning first.

You said you had several different kinds or breed of chickens, right? What made you choose certain breeds over the others when you first bought them?

.........
i cant think of anything appropriate..........................................
..
.
._.
why are chickens different colorz
ROFL. um because they are different breeds so they have different pigments.

i went for a combo of pretty, size, and egg layers. along with good money/breeder chickens

go ahead hog it

Since I have some chickens too, when I ask you something, I don't mean to "test" your knowledge. Quite the opposite, I'd like to know if I've been doing what is supposed to be done or not, and compare of course.

Alright, you said that you tried to hatch the eggs yourself using an incubator. So, do you know which one is a male or female baby chick? Because I don't. How do you know?

Try to censor your answer appropriately, please ... ;)

ok well i use 2 of 3 ways to tell. i DO NOT use the hatchery way which is squeeze there butts to look and see what it is. because that can cause death. what i do is wait when they first get WING feathers and stretch it out. if all the feathers on the wing are the same length its a rooster and if they are not its a hen. this is a proven fact. the other way is when they are fully feathered you look at the feathers where the neck meets the body. if there pointy then they are a rooster if they are rounded or square its a hen. NOTE: doesnt work on silkies or showgirls

What do you feed your chicken (sometimes people feed them table scraps)?
i feed my chickens KTA layer feed. its pellets that make the eggs healthier bigger and stronger shells. along with yogurt which is good for them

Wow, cool! Very scientific ... I have to try those. Mine that I got this spring already are grown and I STILL don't know if some of them are males or females ... Ikr? What kind of a 'wanna-be-a-farmer', am I ... And no, I'm not so much of a farmer, at all.
Next ... What do you feed them? How many times a day do you feed them? Do you feed all of them the same, or certain breed needs certain diet?

see above sharks question and my answer. they all eat the same and i feed them when the feeder runs out. and i consider myself a farmer. for i buy sell hatch and grow them all. and i pay for it all. so if i dont sell then they dont eat and then i have to sell them. like a real farmer. oh i feed my show chickens show feed it improves there feather quality

There is a danger in feeding them whenever the feeder runs out, don't you think? That they will overeat? I may have to take some pics of my different kinds/breeds of chickens ... Two of them are of a breed that is 'super fat', she literally could not walk at one point. Because she ate and ate and didn't know when to stop. Now she's losing a little weight and she can walk again.

Btw, you do have a show chicken? I think I have one too, it's black, with feathery legs (don't ask me the breed name, I will have to google it first. I knew what it was, but I forgot!). What's the purpose of having show chickens? Where do you show them? And do you separate them from other chicken, since you feed them different feed?

ok here we go. no my chickens dont even hardly stay in the coop so therefore they dont get fat. they are always outside running around eating. yes i have a show chicken. the purpose of show chickens is to show them. you show them in clubs like 4-h and such. and the breed you are thinking of is cochin. and no i dotn seperate them from the others. but i do have a purity room where i will put my breeders for about a month to ensure pure chickens

What do you feed your chicken (sometimes people feed them table scraps)?
oh almost forgot. almost everyone with chickens feeds them table scraps. but NOT as a main source of food. usually they feed them at least crack corn

O_O! I need to let those two out tomorrow ... I call them McFatty, for being so fat ... @_@

You were talking Greek ...

Idk what that means, silly ... What is a purity room? How do you know if they are pure?
uh its a room and you put a hen and a rooster in there together and they do what hens and roosters do and you know they will be pure bc the other rooster wasnt there to do his thing and make it unpure

Ok ...? That's mean ... But I guess I see my chickens more like pets rather than live stocks ...
