Welcome to the Forums!
At the moment there is a double xp event going on in game till the 25th of Dec. If you can, I would suggest you go to Port Royal and do the Hollowed Woods quest. Once that is completed you will get double xp as a reward for 6 hours (if i remember correctly).
So you will be getting x3 rep with the quest completion and the xp event. Also you can get even MORE rep if you join a large crew (this is easier on Abassa) where you will get an EXTRA %50 rep!
