Discussion Insight into Moderator Actions and Ban Appeals

We've made attempts to justify our position on keeping things family-friendly numerous times. You can seek out those justifications if you are truly curious. Not all of them boil down to "won't somebody please think of the children?" You are, of course, free to use private platforms such as Discord to communicate with your friends in a more lax environment... but this is our house and we've chosen our rules in good conscience.

We're unable to publicly disclose any particular actions taken against an account. If you have an inquiry about an action taken against your account, you may get in touch with us privately (as the rules and infraction messages make clear).

Also, our claiming to be a bit tougher with moderation than Disney was generally brought on by people complaining that they were never given infractions for similar behaviors in POTCO. Meanwhile others say they've been warned or banned for things in POTCO that they believe to be even more trivial. It seems a bit complicated to try to pin down exactly where we lie, and to be honest it's not really that important anyways so I won't bother. In any event, the moderation team is trying their best. When people come forward with polite and thoughtful criticisms, we respond in kind. When people try to belittle our efforts and skip straight to making accusations, it's exhausting and unlikely to be met with any meaningful or productive discussion. If you have an actionable suggestion or honest question, feel free to make a thread about it.

I'd like to reiterate why I wrote the original post, assuming it doesn't set more people on fire to share their side of what is going on disrespectfully.

Several people over the course of TLOPO's existence have said that TLOPO isn't transparent enough, that those in charge don't communicate or explain things openly. Well, I've posted several things now that have attempted to shed light on various topics. This thread was simply another. I shared the goals that our moderator team has, what they strive for, how they handle specific things, and why they go about things in a way that seems to make no sense.

Did you not want to be more informed? Was it really necessary to pick apart a few phrases and completely bypass the fact that I was just trying to help the community understand better? If you don't agree with everything I said, that's fine. But come on. I was trying to help, not deceive anyone or make excuses. That should be obvious. If I wanted to be mean, I would have never spent an hour of my time writing the original post. As it was, I poured my heart into it because I care about this community and I want to help everyone be on the same page. So that maybe even if you don't agree, you at least know why something happens instead of being left in the dark.

Lack of communication causes many problems. And for that matter, communicating in a vengeful, disrespectful manner does as well. I wrote the original post with respect for everyone in mind. I expect the same from those that wish to comment after it.

I respect your attempt at transparency. I hope that my views were not seen as vengeful or disrespectful, as they were not meant to be. There are just issues that I, and others, have seen, and this post kind of brushed them aside as repercussions of Disney's "failures," which I found severely exaggerated. That is all. No offense meant. Just the observations of a fellow forum member/ player. Forums are a great outlet for discussion, where different views can sometimes be interpreted as angry views

The main reason I mentioned Disney's "failures" was to help people put things into perspective. I remember much complaining back in POTCO. Several players were unhappy with how Disney was handling things and letting the game decline. I was trying to give a contrast and point out that TLOPO is doing the opposite - TLOPO wants to grow successful, not close down.

Well spoken... Just because the years pass doesn't mean everyone has grown up yet... *drops the mic*
