I'll do the best I can to fill you in.
As the devs may know the quest tracking is kinda funky.
Yes, they are aware the tracking is a little off sometimes, if you have a specific instance of where it needs to be fixed, I'd suggest making use of the 'Send feedback' option while you're in-game by pressing F7.
Also pistols will display a miss and still take damage, or show that an enemy will take damage but it was a miss.
I can't say for sure that I have seen anyone talk about this display issue on the forums, but I am pretty sure the devs are aware. Again, I'd suggest making use of the 'Send feedback' feature or even using the section here on forums here for reporting glitches and such, or to see if anyone else has already reported it.

I played POTCO back in 2007 until those clowns at disney shut it down and i gotta say you guys did an amazing job at recreating it. Is there anything missing? Im pretty sure all the weapons are there and you can go up to level 50. Are legendary weapons in the loot system? Cant wait to spend countless hours at darkhart looking for the lost sword of el patron
Just about everything is here! Maybe a few code-redeemable weapons that potco released are the only things not available here in TLOPO, but the Legendary weapons are here in the looting system upon completion of the Raven's Cove story quest (available at lv 30)
The only thing I'd say is the 'Item' box is currently not functioning, so you won't receive any effect from Cannon rams or Sea items right now, but you can still loot them!
