Last Day

What did you do to enjoy your last day on POTCO?
  • Plunder?
  • Level?
  • Hang with friends?
  • Talk about the good-old-days?
  • Take screen shots?

"Johnny Calamari" and I spent a few hours sailing around on the Scallywag Queen, playing cards in the pubs, and just hanging out. We didn't play as often as we used to (Life gets in the way of fun sometimes), but we always had a good time and lots of laughs.

My last day was somber and a bit unusual. I spent some time doing gold runs with friends, defeated DH one last time, took out Kingshead once, defeated Jolly in the final invasion, visited some favorite places, took a few pictures and said some last goodbye's.

Just before the end, I sailed out alone on my favorite ship and enjoyed the water until we got the boot. For no real reason, I tried to get back in and was able to set sail a final time for almost a half hour.

My favorite Thanksgiving dessert said it best to a GM that came on late. The final time felt like a funeral of a good friend than a celebration.

:rumgone:

I had spent the "last day" (and the evening before POTCO's closing) with NO sleep:skullpeak:as I wanted to take full advantage of the last moments spent on the game after being away from the game for the better part of 2013.

As such, I made the decision to hang out on Abassa/Tortuga the morning of Sept. 19th for no other reason than to "enjoy" the ending moments of the game with complete POTCO strangers whom, as a community, helped to define the uniqueness and character of the game. Other than that, I had spent some of my time on the game doing some SVS which was my favorite thing to do on POTCO.
:boat:
Besides chatting to a few close friends, the highlight of that day probably included seeing a lot of ye mates there in addition to bumping into an old friend of mine whom I had not seen in a long time (i.e., Teabolt/Santa Claus - https://piratesforums.co/members/teabolt.125/). *Needless to say, it was a "good" day for me in a certain respect because I had realized for myself that I had taken a leave of absence from the game entirely TOO LONG and that I should have been playing the game all along.

I think POTCO's "last day" taught me a valuable lesson in that people whom played POTCO are what make the world go around (and not just Scary Mary's hips from all of her terrible dancing).
