Keep your inner-pirate buried with Potco. Play WOW instead, GTA5 or GW2. There are tons of cool MMORPGS that large legit game developers are putting out. Potco was fun years ago, but it's time to move on. :drink:

Yes... but I want to be a Pirate - sniff -Can't someone continue with 'Armada of the darned'?? That was a good looking Pirate game!!

There are tons of MMORPG's in the world, but not a whole lot of Pirate ones. And if there is, I've only heard of Pirates of the burning sea :P

Well, I really do like the idea of a new POTCO. But yes, you would need lots and lots of money. Perhaps you could make an Indiegogo or something along those lines to get money. I don't know, this is just my thinking.

Filling this out for the heck of it:

Name For The Game: Pirates Of The Despised Path
Would You Play A POTCO ReMake: YES.
Most Important To Keep The Same: Invasions.
Most Important To Change: Graphics. animations, Card games.
Other Suggestions:
  • Different kinds of enemies.
  • More weapons.
  • Quests that allow you to work for Becket, Davy Jones and Jolly Roger (If possible)
  • Go deeper into Jolly Rogers past (Again, if possible.)
Other Thoughts:
Eh, got nothing :P

...all of whom are working extremely hard on the new forum and on keeping, if I dare say, an unruly gaggle of excited and dedicated young pirates on topic (*fends off the rotten eggs*)...
Aye, and sometimes staying "on-topic" requires good judgment and to look deeper into the inter-connective issues that are being discussed for the good and the welfare of the topic that is being addressed. When it comes to caring enough about something (in this case, a remake of POTCO), I would think that all perspectives would be welcome as everyone upholds their own concerns and/or opinions about such an important issue as the remake of POTCO (i.e., POTHS only as an 'example') to where open communication is key to shed light upon things unclear.

*It is my hope that POTCO lives on via projects such as POTHS but, only if we truly seek to understand the underlying motives of each other - as pirates - will we ultimately "deserve" the warmth of the Caribbean sun, sand, and water...again.
:sun:

Name For The Game: Pirates of the (insert something here) Ocean/Sea
Would You Play A POTCO Remake: Yes, definitely!
Most Important To Keep The Same: Ship PvP
Most Important To Change: Graphics, and hacking/glitching.
Other Suggestions:
- Raise the cap for notoriety a bit?
- OLD ISLANDS!
- OLD BODIES AND NEW BODIES!
- More weapons
- Tailor clothing once a month?
Other Thoughts:
- Maybe you could add a test server, but better than what Disney had for a test server.
- Please don't use Panda3D. I personally don't like it.
- Maybe do a founder thing or something special to the people who play when it first releases?
That's all I have for now. Thanks!

Make the name similar to the main story, or maybe have it like some character, like jack sparrow for example, is wanted by instead of long john silver or whatever that ghost guy, (forgot his name) it's a group of infamous pirates and jack sparrow betrayed them (remember, jack is just an example), so you, a sailor, meet him in a alley or maybe a bar, and he persuades you by telling the things you could do, therefore, the title can be somewhat like:
THE PIRATE THAT WOULD BE or something like that.... anyways, DO NOT MAKE IT HAVE TO BE PAY TO WIN!!!! only do that for like, idk, like maybe some special clothes or something. anyway, good luck!

Heads up!
"Hour of Code" event will be useful for learning how to program POTCO with it's included python coded files...

I have a question that perhaps someone associated or affiliated with the POTHS Kickstarter could possibly answer(note: providing the link goes against this forums 'long-standing' policy towards the solicitation of $$ by members).

QUESTION: What will happen to the "PayPal" donation link available on the POTHS Kickstarter page once February 2 has come and gone?

I assume that this PayPal link is there to provide a better means for those whom would like to back the project whom are too young to pledge with a major credit card (pledges made to Kickstarter projects are normally done through use of a credit card handled entirely by 'Amazon Payments').

*Without having to sift through all of the gaming projects available on Kickstarter.com, can someone explain to me if this is a widely used practice and also, will POTHS continue to accept donations from ex-POTCO players once the February 2nd deadline is reached?

Thank You.

Shamus ~

We set up the PayPal link because of the reason you just stated Shamus. We really try to encourage people to donate through Amazon Payments though, which involves Visa, Mastercard, American Express (and something else I'm forgetting right now). People can still donate through PayPal, and the PayPal's link will be up until February 2. IF the KS does not succeed (and I'm pretty sure it won't sadly), we will keep the link up and we will continue working on the game until we feel ''ready'' to give a 2nd try to the KickStarter.

Please note that donations through PayPal do not add up to the amount shown in the KickStarter.

The thing is...if the project does not succeed the whole point in relying upon Kickstarter's Amazon Payments system is that those whom have pledged normally (through use of a 'credit card' only) will not be charged for the amount they have pledged whereas those whom have pledged using PayPal shoulder a loss from the amount of money they had pledged.

I understand POTHS' reasoning in providing the PayPal option (as POTCO had a ton of players whom were under the age of 18 playing) but...the whole point I had thought in relying upon the Kickstarter option of pledging alone was to assure that no questions of accountability would arise.

It's a "tricky" task (I can only imagine) to please all ages/background of ex-POTCO players but, I think it would look better for POTHS to do away with the PayPal option once February 2nd has turned into February 3rd.

No as far as I know, those who donate through PayPal won't get charged either until the set Date. Edward said so in the LiveStream when he was setting it up. I will ask again Edward Shipstealer though to make sure.

Thank you. :) I appreciate you asking him for me as unless I am mistaken (which sometimes I am) I wouldn't think that PayPal would have anything to do with the terms and conditions openly stated on the website for Kickstarter.

Heh no problem Shamus, I understand. And no, PayPal is set that way (but like I said I'll ask) because it's only for the KS, so of course it had to meet KS's terms and policies.

What did you find out about this - Irene? Will the PayPal option continue to stay after the Kickstarter ends?
