Graphics Problem MEGATHREAD: DirectX (d3dx9_42.dll) issues

For those of you with the "d3dx9_42.dll is missing from computer" error please try the following....

1. For Windows 7/Windows 7 SP1 and older versions (Standalone installer). Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17718

2. For Windows 8 and 8.1 and older versions (Windows 7 does not seem to be supported). Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42642

3. For Windows 10 and older (Windows 7 does not seem to be supported). Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49981

^^ The above are packages that provide the .Net Framework Runtime and other associated files (Direct from Microsoft)
required to run/develop applications that target the .Net Framework 4. This means you could be missing an important .Net Framework that the aforementioned packages provide which may help to run TLOPO.

If nothing else try installing DirectX Runtime as mentioned above by previous posters. Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Sapphire. The game seems to be looking for a certain directx runtime which is a graphics file the game is coded with amongts other things and this is the one that helped with this missing dll . It doesn't matter where you download and extract the package to, but once extracted look for directx.setup and click that one. You need to do the dx install after saving those files. It's a directx runtime library dated 2010
This will just ADD 2010 to your computer and won't change what you're running on your computer. This has helped for this problem so far for some.

I downloaded the game and everything but The Directx9 version doesn't run for me. any solutions. opengl opens and runs tho
 
I have just finished updating the game and It tells me " the program can't start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing

How can I fix this as reinstalling the program does not seem to work?

I tried opening the game but it just says TLOPO stopped working

Are the servers down or is something wrong with my PC?

I got in at 11:40 pm after many tries. I did pick my own choice of servers and picked the one with the least number.
Also saw the server list refresh itself and shown many servers with activity. Playing in GL mode and no crashes the whole time of play.
Made me ship and took shore when run out of time. I was slicing up a small crab at the time. Probably try again tomorrow.
Mostly seemed fairly smooth and loadings seemed to get faster.
I also think a player tried to attack me. Can they do that? lol

I can't even get the game to open, is there any way to fix this?
Windows just tells me TLOPO has stopped working
