Sailing MEGATHREAD: Sailing (Non-Hunter)/Ships/Lack of Ships

I don't understand why, I get the same amount of rep from killing a gray level land enemy in 1 second as I do after sinking a ship that I spend a few minutes on.

That is true, but at same time isn't sailing much more fun? You won't think about the slow rep when you're with your friends and it will actually feel fast and more rewarding when you hit it.

Because if level 15 was real easy to hit then everyone would have a War Ship within 3 hours of gameplay.

Also AI damage is good, if anything i would recommend raising it more.

It makes sailing a whole lot more interesting and fun... That way you can't go after a War Frigate with a light sloop... It would also feel rewarding when you get up there and is able to beat War ships with your own ship and crew.

I like the whole "Reward" feeling when i achieve something.

Those are just my opinions though. But i like my game interesting not boring and glitchy or knowing that i can 1 vs 20 ships and survive.

To me it's very annoying how turning slows the ship down even to only 4 knots (I don't remember that happening in POTCO). Probably adds realism yes (ehh realism in this case, this game, not so important?), also difficulty, but in the wrong way imo, because the skill aspect in sailing comes mostly from being able to maneuver the ship where you can shoot the enemy, but it can't shoot you. Now the ship just gets stuck in place, ruining that aspect, the challenge, the good feeling of success (Also was turning the ship faster in POTCO? idk probably not). Nevermind the difficulty and realism, it's just super frustrating and boring to move like a snail swimming in super glue, letting your crew do absolutely all the work, without leaving any fun and responsibility for the captain.

And the seas are very, very empty from enemy ships. I have memories of POTCO, where the sea between Tortuga and Port Royal was swarming with low level enemy ships. Today I spent more than 30 minutes searching for a single Navy Ferret, and when I found one, there were 2 other pirate vessels attacking it too at the same time. Is this caused by limited server performance maybe? I'm no computer guy idk.

I personally like looting on land better, but regardless, the ships are quite fast. Sea vipers were sailing around the ship so fast I couldn't get a shot off. Do I have bad aim? Yes, Are they supposed to be fast ships? Yes. But doing a quest that is tedious like the black pearl, which I personally don't want to do anyway, but for raven's Cove it must be done, where you kill hundreds of ships makes annoying ship AI just that much more daunting.

I just sailed there and when I ported I ended up UNDER the island. I was able to get back on my ship this time.

Sailed to Cutthroat and Kingshead. Ended up UNDER the island. Got back on my ship. All three Spanish flag ships were sinking without being in a battle and I didn't fire on them.

Teleported to Padres, Cuba, and Raven's Cove. UNDER the Island again.

I see other pirates walking above me.

So why are some pirates able to get to these places and I can't.

That is why it was called my input.... It will never be a "diamond" without it.
Sorry, I wasn't being snarky, you said in last part of your post..." or how the game will be from now on?"....and usually its people who comment as such that do not realize its a work in progress...did not mean to offend. Happy sails!

I completely agree. Played a few hours leveling up sailing, solo, and it was very difficult. The ship AI is very aggressive and the enemy ships were quite fast. I got 5-6 ships chasing and firing upon me which really put my kitting skills to test. The reduced loot is more or less acceptable. Other than that hands up for the developers, great work. :)

Yes. If you TP or try to land on any island it is messed up. Among other things wont let me get to beautiful Tia LOL. Also, where are all the ships?
Have many ship quests but very few ships out there.

I really hope they adjust the sailing AI and Rep gains back closer to how it was in POTCO. While the POTCO sailing AI could've used some small speed and responsiveness buffs, right now sailing combat, especially solo, is much more difficult and less rewarding.

i don't find it that hard to solo sail :/ and every time i go out i come back with some royal chests

1. Trying to leave a shipwright after repairing results in being stuck.
2. Porting makes islands very messed up
3, Ship Ai is too mean.
4.I got teleported very high above Port Royal and fell for a few minutes until landing near ft. Charles. Unable to replicate.

I tried to take my galleon out to sail, and the game wouldn't get past the loading screen for the ocean. When I relogged back in, my galleon was gone and nowhere to be found. That's 3.5k gold lost.

Edit: Just exit out of the game and go back in.

So far after playing for a 15-20 minutes, here are a couple of bugs:

1) When I land at Kingshead, it makes me swim and not be able to go on land, then if I teleport anywhere else, I'm still glitched and can't walk on land.

2) When I sink flagships, I get no loot.

Honestly the only major issue I have with the ship AI is that no matter how I fire my broadsides, they almost always miss. Even point blank they seems to fire in the complete wrong direction. I don't quite mind the ships being faster and the loot being more scarce. I do mind that the enemy light galleons move more like a frigate or a sloop while mine sails thru thick syrup. Make my well aimed broadsides actually hit the enemy ship without them hitting turbo exactly as I seem to fire and I'd be happy. (Oh and the spawning/ line of sight issues in finding ships)

No reputation, plunder, or quest advancements are given after boarding or sinking flagships

Edit:
Workaround: If you wait the five minutes after you have grapple-hooked the flagship, all of the above works as intended

I've noticed in my first time back on that when sailing you are not able to see all the enemy ships anymore witch makes the plundering quest 10x harder. I spent a good 30 minutes looking for a navy bulwick.... which shouldn't take more than a minute to find. I was just wondering if this feature was going to get fixed or kept in the game.
