Mollusks : HELP!!!

I dont know if Im the only one having problems with these. I enjoy going to Tormenta to loot with other people. Every now and then I end up going alone and do pretty well until I run into Mollusks. Some I have no problem with but others end up killing me. They Grave Shackle me and then disappear into a walls killing me while I cant do anything.

Im lvl 37 and like to use my pistol (my most effective weapon lvl 27). It usually takes me 2-3 charged steel shots to kill them when I can. I know I can use Hex shot to drain their vodoo but the wall hiding keeps killing me.

Maybe I just need not go there alone. Would more skill points on Hex shot (currently at 2) help? Or should I just wait until Im a higher level to go there alone? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That's what happens in Tormenta! Do level 24s go to fight Dark Hart alone and wonder why they die? Good luck, but try waiting until you're a higher level. :confused:
 
I was soloing Tormenta at level 29. So level 37 is a good level.
When they disappear into a wall, which is EXTREMELY annoying, try to run away so they have to chase you and leave the walls. If there are other enemies near, just try to get the aiming circle thingy (>.>) on the enemy.
And Hex Shot is good for Molusks, but it's a better idea to max Steel. If you max steel, Take Aim, Shoot, and reach gun lv 30 you can (most likely - notoriety affects damage, too) kill nearly any enemy in one shot. Or, severely lower it's HP.
Also, try getting a Silver/Holy/Sacred weapon. The cleanse is good for getting rid of grave shackles and the curse spell.
 
Hex is best for mollusk. or learn how to glitch into the wall where they cant get you. dark hart is good to level alone at too.

but if you have multiple enemies use grenades or staff. the "circle thingy" is Take Aim? lol :eek:

Take aim is not the circle. The circle is the thing that gets red when it scrolls over an enemy, tyvm.

Use the asp, throw dirt or vipers nest(dagger skills) on them to break attunement. Then you have a few seconds to kill them before they attune you again. Easy way to do it :) Have fun :D
 
I had problems too, so don't feel bad. I never understood how a mollusk defeated me easier than a seabeard did. The easiest way to kill them is the way that you've been doing it: Charged shots. I use bane shot, but that's cause my pistol has infinite bane.
 
If you happen to find a Razortooth Sword, the snare immunity is useful against grave shackles. I use it on Sam all the time.

My favorite weapon is by far voodoo doll, which is strange, because I hate enemies that use voodoo dolls. Unfortunately Molusks are highest level enemies with voodoo dolls, so if I don't have a very high level of notoriety, I will try to avoid them. I agree with Constance, against all enemies that like to disappear to the rocks, we need to run the opposite way from them, to force them out of the rocks, because they will chase us (before they have a chance to graveshackel us).

Once I had lifedrain on my doll (level 20 doll), everything got easier. After I mastered doll, I put max skill on lifedrain. I usually take a doll that has hex ward on it, attune the molusk, then use life drain before it has a chance to graveshackle me. Almost like, alright, go ahead and chain me, but your life/HP is almost gone anyway. So even if it graveshackels me, after the chain is broken I could bombard it with all kinds of skills on my voodoo doll.
 
Thanks everyone for the great advice. I keep going to Tormenta to follow a guide to looting I read online. Im trying to find a decent pistol and sword. Maybe one day. My luck stinks. I have since leveled my pistol and cant wait to go back. I will definitely try all your tips. Thanks again.
 
I use gun all the time even though a cutlass is my favorite weapon, I use blunderbuss against higher levels like mollusk or sea beard, but when you fight mollusk voodoo doll locks on the enemy so that it is easy
