Muerto Moon

I'm surprised that players in caves get turned into zombies, I think in potco anyone that wasn't outside including caves didn't turn into a zombie.

Or.... you can run to the safe servers that was announced in the game. First people complained about them not announcing which servers was safe, then they did. Now you want to downgrade it to 2 servers being struck by the moon. Sound about right to me.
twizted iz rite, we iz mandatorzies my fell0w goonz

The developers should just make it so if you're a zombie and you enter a cave you automatically turn human to prevent annoyance from those that loot in caves.
There are a lot of solutions that could be implemented, countless good ideas. However almost all of them are much harder to implement then just turning the moon off on a few servers. If everyone understood how the game works and is programmed just a tiny bit more there probably wouldn't be as much complaining.

The Muertos Moon is enjoyable for many people. TLOPO has listened to feedback to try and minimize the problems people had with the Moon in a way that minimizes the risk of breaking things (seriously, changing anything with the caves and tunnels system is asking for trouble in POTCO) and that wouldn't take days or weeks to properly implement, test, fix inevitable bugs, etc.

I see thanks for the response.

I don't get what all the hullabaloo is about on the Muertos Moon. I'll say I am not a fan but it seems so easy to avoid with the announcements as they are. I think it's great that it's back since it was a part of potco and have no issue with it being game wide but I see that the developers have said it will not be game wide in the future and that they only made it so to stress test it which is also fine with me.

To add onto this with a more detailed technical response. Each "server" on TLOPO is essentially running its own separate instance of some of the server sided code. Events/holidays are highly customizable for the server, able to be turned on or off at will without much fuss. Being that the Muertos Moon is an event it can be enabled/disabled per server.

Caves and tunnels are notoriously fragile and confusing constructs by Disney held together by duct tape and Mickey's magic wand. While I'm sure TLOPO has done work to clean it up considerably I have a feeling they are still not easy to work with even with someone highly experienced with the code. So modifying these is probably not a great idea.

I believe the Muertos Moon's affect on the player has a lot of its code inherited from the code which PvP also inherits from (if you couldn't tell). This is why things like teleportation restrictions and some other things specific to PvP are carried over. Modifying this would in turn likely unintentionally modify parts of PvP, creating unintentional effects and bugs.
Other reasons for not implementing certain ideas:
The system behind the idea is planned on being revamped
Spaghetti code
Too difficult/more important things to work on

They don't get turned into zombies. The ones that attacked waited outside on the beach and when they turned to zombies they entered the cave.

They don’t, players stay outside and then run into the caves.
Are players that are zombies supposed to be able to attack players that have either already been killed or hid and were unaffected? In my recollection they couldn't but it was long ago and I wasn't a fan so my memory may be faded.

OK, now I see that this has indeed become a troll heaven and is in need of some adjustment beyond limiting the number of servers. I really think that affected pirates should only be able to attack other affected pirates regardless of whether that was the case in potco or not. It's just not right that some trolls should be able to go into Forsaken Shallows and one shot with a grenade an entire looting party at the Twins or Palifico and sitting in front of the jail and grenading everyone that comes out is also out of line and needs to be stopped by the developers, please fix this soon.

Been looking around, but what are the safe servers?
