Not sure whether or not to classify this whole post as a suggestion or not, but regardless it's still a suggestion to the devs. To (try and) make it short and sweet, this game is in dire need of updates, not JUST convenience or bug fixes (although those are obviously important to the game's stability). This game needs content - not just content as in new clothes or new guild ranks or anything, but actual content, similar to the Forsaken Shallows update. The lack of stuff to do is what drives me away from playing this game currently.
To reference Isla Escondida here is important. I have high hopes for when this island finally comes out, but I have one hope of it that I feel could be a huge step in the right direction. With how much time this island is taking to release, I really hope instead of just an island, the devs release it more as a DLC or expansion in the sense that it'll be a large update content wise. However, an expansion wouldn't just entail new enemies to kill, new bosses, new loot, etc. That's exactly what Forsaken Shallows was, just in a smaller form. I'm hoping this update introduces something actually meaningful, something people can actually progress with. Whether this be a whole new weapon type that we can level, a higher notoriety cap and weapon level cap, new sailing content or upgrades to ships (such as hulls and rigging, hopefully a whole new type that adds more diversity), new bosses with actual boss mechanics, or just about any new kind of system that gives players something to grind for.
I want to highlight 2 of these things I mentioned: news sailing content and new grind systems. Personally, I feel the sailing aspect of this game is heavily ignored. New enemy boss ships or monsters (such as a Kraken) equipped with special attacks/mechanics that require many pirates to challenge could be an extremely interesting addition to this game, and I believe something like this could be what makes TLOPO a very special game. On top of this, a new "system" could alone add tons of new content to the game. By "system", I'm referring to something such as the ship materials, as that update from Disney added a whole new end-game goal to grind for and added a whole new tier to sailing. It isn't just something you do once and you're done, but rather a long-term grind that is very replayable due to the many different paths you can take. What a new system that TLOPO could add is beyond me, that would be left to their own creative minds, but my point is that this could add a whole new thing to do in the game that won't just be a one time thing but rather a process.
I already know some people are going to immediately talk about the bugs of this game and the coding system. First off, I completely agree that bugs are important to fix. However, there will ALWAYS be bugs, so I don't think trying to fix every single small bug should take priority over adding stuff to do, because I'd rather have buggy new content (like every game has at one point) than no content that is MOSTLY bug-free. Also, I understand the code of this game is an extreme limiting factor in what the devs are capable of doing to this game. That's why things such as boss mechanics and such I don't expect to be on a World of Warcraft level or anything, and also why I don't expect some crazy new systems or anything. However, it's important to encourage the devs to push the limits of the code to their best ability and try to implement something that will keep us amazed and entertained. I think the devs have done a great job in the direction that they're taking this game, I just have my concerns about the actual content of the game because I want to actually have stuff to do when I play it
