Idea Naval Warfare Fix

I have played the original game for years (POTCO), and very recently found out about TLOPO. The one issue I had always had within the game was naval combat. The auto aim assist is awful. I shoot, then cannon balls fly directly behind me and I hit nothing, and they do this a few times throughout combat. What if instead of an auto aim, there was a similar idea to Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. Cannon balls fly in a single direction, and the player is shown the general direction the cannon balls fly. This is not a complete overhaul of the game, just a major issue that is a massive pain in the neck to me, that is similar to AC4, and that made me think, why not try a similar method to AC4's combat system? It is similar in code, and possibly even easier to program than the cannon auto aim, and possibly easier then fixing the issue as well. I am not asking for a AC4 replica, just a very similar (and possibly simpler) cannon firing mechanic.

While I am one for modifying the current combat mechanics of naval warfare in their current state, I must disagree with how broken you claim they are. (Nothing toward yourself, of course) but broadside tracking mechanics in TLOPO have a lack of consistency to them that can be artificially modified by the positioning of your ship compared to the opponent's.

A ton of it just comes as muscle memory once you've been out for awhile, but I can definitely agree that for someone who's just coming back (Or didn't play the original game whatsoever) the broadside mechanics may be a bit frustrating. If they were to patch in an update to remove the possibility for broadsides to go forward or backward, I think that would be enough to be able to keep the consistency of broadsides enough to where they aren't too easy, but still require some finesse on the players' end to be able to land them consistently.
