Well, this game seems to breed funny stories almost every day of the week. A good friend of mine got me into the game because he had played the original, so character creation was a bit of a laugh when we're both going through hitting the crashes and bugs head on like a steam train, never upset after all we both play Bethesda games.

So the story I am going to tell is when we both decided to go pirating, this was back before the broadsides worked properly so we're sailing about destroying as many ships as we can using the standard cannons... then we decided since the strongest ships can't fight back they would be the best targets to destroy ya know to abuse the system and get as much sailing experience from it as possible... As it turns out they could fight back, the first time the broadside hit us from the thing we both were yelling and hollering about needing to move and run. Now keep in mind we're on a skype call with friends who weren't playing yet so imagine two grown men yelling back and forth about a ship firing back in a pirate game while they unload cannons into it.

Needless to say, we killed the ship and stuck to weaker targets for a while.

So one of the funniest things that have happened would have to be in the original game. Me and my dad just started out, were created our pirates and went through the tutorial, when we spawned on Port Royal... ALL the players there were sliding, no animations at all, and they were sliding at high speeds, me and my dad started laughing real hard to the point we were crying. When we thought it was over everyone started sliding even faster! At this point I exited the game, I couldn't take it anymore, it was too funny. We came to the conclusion it was the result of our bad laptops and started to play the game again. Not long after that we got better laptops so we didn't have to witness everyone slide.

It all began when I started up the game for the very first time. I loaded in, made my character, and set out to rule the seas as the master I always knew I would be. After receiving a rusty cutlass from Turner and failing to land the simple hack-slash combo on the training dummies, I decided I was ready for some real combat. As I exited the warehouse, nearly getting decimated by a few level 1 gravediggers, I hopped on some poor guy's ship. Smooth waters ahead, he said, until a wretched ship came out of no where and in came some unwanted visitors. I stared down the feared Jolly Roger like he was nothing. However, it was a cut scene, and I was forced off the ship and had to swim for my life back to the island. After the cut scene was over, I just had to get back out to sea to enact my revenge. I surveyed the public ships to see which would hold up to my very high standards- after all, I was level 1 and my potential could not be squandered on an undeserving vessel. I found a suitable ship, and teleported. Upon arrival, I was immediately sent onto a high level undead flagship. I looked around at the enemies; they obviously would not be able to withstand the ruthlessness of my rusty cutlass. While surveying my opponents, one undead soldier was able to sneak up on me and somehow defeated me. It was then, while bleeding out on that cold, moldy wood, that I called upon my true seafaring abilities. I was able to move about the ship while knocked out, and nothing could stop me- not even death itself. And with that knowledge in mind, I set out on a voyage. I floated just above sea level throughout all of the high seas- breezing right through EITC Ogres, Man-O-Wars, Revenants, nothing could contend with me, the most divine level 1 pirate that the Caribbean has ever seen.
Best experience I've ever had with this game, you guys are the best.

One time during original POTCO(when I was 10 years old) I was home sick and I was privateering with a lovely bowl of chicken noodle soup in front of me. There was an AFK War Frigate spawning on the Spanish side so I was quite excited that I was able to sink it over and over again to gain the privateering infamy or whatever. Since I was home sick it was just me and my mom, so after my ship was sunk I decided to quickly get up and tell my mom what I did. What my young self did not realize was how close my bowl was to my elbow. I excitedly get up to tell my mom, and I elbow my soup and it spills all over my keyboard.

Still have the dead HP keyboard in my basement. Safe to say it doesn't see much action these days.

Key for the Keepers. Pencil. Was thinking of skulls but also Celtic knots for the facial features. The hollow end allows it to fit over a pin in the lock. the final move, to pull back when turned, is what the little bump on the back of the 5th tooth is for.

Sorry if the pencil sketching is a bit light.

Anyway, My story is one that probably a lot can relate to.
With the new addition of hunters, people farming for Reputation in sailing has become a lot harder. MY strategy was to do it in a light sloop, that way all the cannons would just go straight over my head. I keep doing this until a hunter shows up (The En Guard) I manage to sink it. After it sunk, I got the highest, and most dangerous, bounty level, so it closed off all but 1 port. This was the first time I've gotten that far so i didn't know what to do. Out of nowhere 3 Revenants show up, and their cannons still can't hit me, but the lightning can. It said that all other ports had been closed off, except tortuga. So i book it because I'm about to die with a lot of loot. More bounty hunters follow, and since I'm far away from their ship, they can shoot me with their cannons. I almost make it to tortuga, and then, navy takes it over. It says Tortuga has been overrun with navy soldiers, but raven's cove is open. Across the ocean. Miraculously I make it to raven's cove. I port. Before it finishes loading....my game crashes and I lose everything.

Way back in the day on potco me and my guild mates used to play hide and seek on King's Head. It is a large area with lots of space that doesn't require going through portals to get to. We would all meet up at the docks and pick who would be it. He or she would then count to 50 on the docks while the rest of us ran and tried to find a spot on the island. "It" would then run around trying to find people with his voodoo doll in hand. If you were found and attuned you became "it". We spent many hours chasing each other around the island fighting off navy npc's that decided you didn't belong there, jumping to avoid attunement ( That's not a word is it :) ) and generally running amok and having fun. One time we couldn't find one of the players but it showed he was on the island we spent a very long time looking for him the whole while he taunted us. Turns out he had used the glitch that allowed you to get to the caverns on kings head. We never would have found him had he not fessed up. I hope to find the level of friends on tlopo that I once had on potco.

So this story is short but i laughed harder than i should be laughing at this. But i was crewing a war frigate and we lagged for 10seconds about that and after that crew count was 13/12 so we counted on deck, 12 people were there and we were like "what on gods great earth?" Then i notice... the 13th guy swimming out there. I type in chat "WOT IN ALL TARNATION" "Whos swimming out there" the guy whos like level 30 replies with "yah i bugged and fell thru the ship, im swimming. imma try to board the eitc ship in front" and i almost lost my mind laughing like this is the most horriffic bug i've ever encountered, the whole crew and him were laughing, swimming animation came into play too it was just too hysterical to pass up and we sank like 10 or more ships after that we ported and the best part was when he replied with "thanks guys arms were getting tired" and i lost it a second time, a female crew member even wrote in the the crew chat "i bypassed laughing straight to crying"

Here is my original work for this contest! Hope you guys like it! A lot of thought went into this and i wanted the design to be intricate at the same time simplified so that it can be replicated in the game! :)

One of the most interesting and funny experiences I've had in my Pirate journey.

So, back in POTCO, by far one of my favorite things to do was go and fish. I seldom ever went anywhere other than Port Royal to go and fish. In fact, I loved it so much, I even got accepted into a Fishing Guild called the "Silver Hookmen." I mastered fishing within 4 days and got 3 Famed swords and a Scattergun from fish. I fished up until the game was shut down. I joined into TLOPO during late March. And when I realized fishing was back, I went straight to the dock to go fishing. I spent my whole entire PlayTime fishing. One day, I met some fellow fishermen who loved fishing also and one day, we went out fishing in his boat. We'd been fishing for about a half an hour and suddenly, it happened. The fish began moving to the left and I knew I found something good. My lights lit up when it happened. The Fire Dragon began swimming to my hook and it hit it. I screamed I was so happy. I pounded my mouse to get it in, and after about three minutes, It got to the boat. Then, it put up one last tug. I wasn't paying attention as I was rolling on the floor with happiness and it broke off. I stood up to look at nothing. I was so sad. My friends were laughing up a storm and from then day on, that fish got a nickname "Ol' Iron Jaw." or The One That Got Away. I figured I'd share this embarrassing story with you and because I cant draw for nothing, maybe hopefully turn it into something more than a story. I thought it'd be cool to have a big barracuda or Tiger Fish with a humongous Silver, Sharp hook going through its mouth as it puts up a huge fight and you can see the anger in its eyes. (BTW Good Luck Everyone!)

A funny experience in this game was when I got beat by my brother in poker and lost 50k gold. Then he came upstairs to slap me in the back of the neck as hard as he could. Later that night when he was asleep I went downstairs and deleted his pirate hahahaha he got so mad, too bad he was 1 level off of 50. :) Hope it made you laugh, check me out on twitch!

Last week I was on a public war ship leveling my cannon skills and collecting great loot with a crew of 8. The Capt was a good sailor but after we were full of royals and treasure chests he decided to start boarding flag ships. Some of the lower level sailors pleaded with the Capt not to do this, but he was a Level 45 and promised to make quick work of any enemies. Being a Level 12 myself, I stayed out of the fight on the decks, knowing I'd be killed in seconds. At that point I had about $2000 in total gold and this haul was going to double that total I was sure. If the Capt wanted to board ships who was I to argue. We raided a Corvette, a Man of War, etc. The whole expedition was approaching 45min in one trip. I knew my 2hrs left would still be productive after I cashed this haul in.

Well we landed on the deck of a Sentinel. For some reason everyone got disconnected except for me... At first I panicked! Then I decided I wasn't going down without a fight! I pulled out my fiercest weapon, my straw dolly. I spend 20 min running in circles while trying to use my doll to kill all the Grunts one by one... My strategy while a long shot was working. I would run up and down the stairs from stern to bow of the boat while using autorun. Sure it was going to take 20 minutes but if I could make it I'd get that loot. So after the last Grunt was disposed of I waited to be returned to the war ship. I was already counting my loot, and then I realized I could use the war ship to level my sailing for the rest of my playtime. What a bonus in true pirate fashion. I continued waiting. And waiting.. Then I didn't see the war ship anymore. I was alone on a disabled Sentinel and my soon to be "borrowed" war ship was a ghost. I couldn't steer the Sentinel. I hadn't gotten the teleport option yet.. I was trapped on this ETIC nightmare ship. My heart sank. I'd spent 45min at least with nothing to show for it.

I sat there watching other ships cruise by.. It was funny in a tragic type of way.
