I dunno if this is already in game since I decided to join back up during an update. But will there be or is there already an option to fly the colors of countries from the era of pirates? Flags of Spain Portugal, England, Some of the Italian City states or German ones, etc. As a history buff I'd love it.

And the historical flags at that, not the modern ones. Always been a fan of the blue and white monarchy of Portugal.

This is the carribean mate, it's owned by the royal navy.
 
Tell that to the Dutch, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. They all got claims. And traders. And privateers. :p I'm just thinking that players can maybe have a flag supporting one of the nations at the time. Not like the NPCs will care.

We're pirates mate not privateers.
 
I don't know if you have played POTCO before (what TLOPO is a recreation of), but everything is based upon your being a Pirate. You cannot fly the flags of the people you sink and fight and plunder from. However, when in SvS (Ship vs Ship) "mode", you can fly the colors of the Spaniards and the Frenchmen, depending on your choice. The Caribbean islands are all under either British, French or Spanish control.

- In shorter terms, just wouldn't make sense to fly the flags of the countries. But I understand where you're coming from and the general idea is nice mate. :D

I do think it would be fun to be able to fly flags from your ship though I would tend to favor ones of a piratey nature, it would also be cool if you could loot flags as a treasure collection, like Tia Dalma's Menagerie et al. Being able to fly a flag that you have looted would also be fun. Of course there currently are only tree types of ship enemies though I certainly can see room to add French, Spanish, and possibly Dutch and American as long as they had a different look to the svs privateers. Other flags would likely have been very rare in the Caribbean of the day, not that the game has to be realistic in this regard.
