New Queue Login System

This new idea is helpful. Those whom are slow broadband user are smiling. We would lose one hour of playtime by installing the game. Now we can install before playing for the first time.

Well...30 minutes later and i have moved from position 119 to position 94 (holding steady at this spot for more than 10 minutes):cry:. Sadly my time is limited today so I don't think I will be able to get in the game today. A few things I will note to myself moving forward:
1. I must be patient as this is a new system
2. During peak times I need to plan ahead including wait times - sort of like going to a restaurant with no reservations during a busy time lol
3. It will be difficult to play with friends for a time - until more slots are opened
4. In the end I am happy to have this game back.

I will try to hold on to my spot for a little while longer but not looking too good right now. LOL

So do we have an actual idea of how the queue works. I am siting at #119 and no change. Should we be seeing the number drop or does it stay at that number and count down behind the scene? I am very confused.

....think of it this way hun......the game re opened after the update and every man and his dog tried to log in at the same time, so it filled up fast.

Things will settle down...after this first flush people will be logging at different times so those 'available' times will become much more staggered than they're likely to be tonight. That means you'll probably get in much faster :)

This is just a guess on my part ofc...time will tell XD

I can see this working, but I think it really depends on the ratio of their playerbase to available slots XD. I know neither of those numbers. We'll see.

Ok this is maby better that play times but play times worked better for me and my girlfriend. we played this game together and only together now she has a place of 10 and me of 80 so shell be playing over an hour or 2 without me.

How about you please bring back beta keys and make them very rare at least give us the chance to get away from this Frustration.

If you've read the news posting, you'd realize that you have to stay logged in if you wish to move up in the queue. It's much like calling your phone provider and being placed in a queue. Stay on hold to move up.

My only problem with what you said is the fact that you think this is the only time it'll be like this; a huge mess.

As I said before, there's gonna be plenty of other times whether it's the weekend or a weekday (keep in mind it's summer, school's out and kids do play this game) where there's gonna be "every man and his dog" are gonna try and get in at the same time.

Of course, that's in the future, so by then instead of 500 (...? I think?) slots, there'll be 700 or hell even 1000!
I assume during the "peak hours", there's probably 1000+ people trying to play. So they have a long way to go.

As much as I hate this, it'll be much better by next week most likely. Updates do come to this game frequently ever since the extended maintenance. So i'll just wait patience and quietly like people response on this thread about how bad the system is ^^

Yea it is frustrating. I am going to give it a week. If it is not better in a week then I would say that it needs to go back to play times. For now though lets give it a week.

Honestly I don't like it. I get the intent but the whole experience has been made worse at the current moment. Me and my friend can usually reserve a timeslot, say 4 PM, and know anytime we log in between 4 and 7 be able to play, but now, with queues, I got logged in almost an hour before my friend, so the times were very staggered to begin with. Also, it seemed like we both couldn't log in at individual times too, which I assume is because of the system. I miss just when you could simply reserve a playtime and not have to wait an hour in a queue, or have a completely different time than a friend.

Edit 7/7/2017: Circumstances have changed, and performance has greatly improved. Just leaving this post up with a slash for past reference.

I have not been able to even go into the game with this new crap system. I tried and waited for an hour an a half and then they go on an update. Then i try again and i finally get to number 2 and it says the sever is currently loading. Its absolute crap when the playtime system worked perfectly fine. If it aint broke dont fix it

So I finally got in and played for maybe an hour. Got d/c just as my ship was filled and trying to port. Tried and tried to get back in but kept getting error messages. Now - three hours later - still getting error messages. I can't even get in the queue! So I guess my time in game is done for tonight.

I know it's the first day of this new system. I know it's the weekend, so everyone is trying to play. I know we're supposed to be patient. But I have to say, judging from the comments here and those I heard from my guild while I was briefly in game this afternoon, most are not liking this new system and want to go back to playtimes until full Beta is released.

I do appreciate our Devs and all the hard work they are doing to get this game in good shape. As I've been playing this past week (in regularly scheduled play times), I've been continually amazed at the progress they have made and how much it is feeling like the old POTCO we all remember and enjoyed. I'm sure this change to a queue was done with great intentions to make it less frustrating for the players. Maybe that will be the case when the system smooths out. Time will tell.

Just stay calm. The new system has only been released for a few hours; there are gonna be some bugs that have to be worked out. The queue system should be better than play slots in the long run because it will allow more people to play more often.

I don't think I have ever complained about problems, but I will make an exception this time. The system (not just the queue) is totally messed up.
  • Can't connect to the account server for a long period of time
  • Can't get through the gs severs - they are not responding - for a long period of time
  • Can't do much online if I can get there. Getting to ships is slow or crashes me
  • On ships, targets freeze, don't update for up to 30 seconds. Lots of time for a Hunter to sink you
  • Crashes on ships abound
None of this was anywhere near as severe before the Queue update. Yes, it should work better, but it has to work once we are in the game. If we are keeping players at about 500 (which is what it normally is when busy) why is everything broken now?

FWIW, I am a beta key holder. I have been able to play about 20 minutes since the update. And gotten no good materials at all. Zilch.

I hope it gets fixed SOON.

Oh, yeah, I know it can work better, but man, it is really bad now.

well till waiting for re_queue after waiting 1 hour and 28 minutes then get launched disconnected only now waiting for 23 minutes not able to connect ... old school if it is not broken don't fix my Beta key will not connected Thanks for nothing .. need to find something else till somebody figures they loaded wrong version again..

During non peak times today it was a very short wait but tonight its horribly long.
The scheduler was better for meeting friends at a pre determined time.
I'm hoping that once the queue system evens out the waits will be shorter.
Lets see how this goes in the next few days, be patient and let it work a while
before rendering judgement.
