New weapons and weapon groups

Scimitar Group
In POTCO, the scimitars shared the cutlass' animations and sounds due to incomplete development. You'll notice the fact that both the viper's kiss and desert claw weapons have an incomplete weapon description ("Rare/Famed").

The scimitar class could be the first new weapon class introduced to TLOPO. The scimitar weapons will have unique animations and sounds - similar to how broadswords and sabres have their own. This will also be the first weapon group containing a legendary weapon as part of the collection.

These look beautiful! Although There should be at least one other "family" of scimitars such as instead of rolling attack they could have inferno or freeze sweep and instead of venom strike it could have drain health, and maybe even swap out brawl boost for endurance, and of course these are just my thoughts.

I’ll definitely make more weapon groups in the future! Right now, I have an interesting “fiery” family of weapons in mind..

Search the POTCO wiki for “Abu Nar Clan”. I’m going to make a weapon group with the final weapon being the legendary Heart of Padres del Fuego. I also might slightly modify its stats or skills if I need to.

I love how the Legendary looks different from the rest, especially with the gem in the center. Great job Darkslinger!
Thanks! If you take a closer look, the common and first rare look different from the rest.

If you take an even closer look - you’ll notice that the second rare (black handle/grip) and the famed (brown handle/grip) look slightly different.
 
I'll be updating this thread with more weapon classes and groups - hope this explains why I renamed it. Coming up: An explosive family of weapons. Got a hot new weapon group coming later, though!

First off, really like the icon work and design, so good job! This is more of a general question or open ended one, but the standard TLOPO grenade item shows attack 10, and its possible to almost 1 shot, if not completely 1 shot many enemies. I think the developers would have to look at what sort of boost an attack 42 grenade would give those skills before implementing it, but attack numbers are more like guidelines anyways :p.

Edit: Also I think the +4 Flourish on the famed scimitar would be too much. Same with the +3 brawl / +3 parry. A better set up would be +3 Flourish and either the brawl or parry boost since you already gave it venom strike, but that's just my 2¢. ;)

Yeah, the grenades are in dire need of a revamp if we expect to have a variety of different pouches in the future! They’re too overpowered in their current state, so that has to be dealt with.

Also, the last weapon is a legendary weapon - not a famed one. So the stats are quite suitable, in my opinion, since brawl and parry aren’t as useful as flourish (which is the only skill that’ll truly help when it comes to combat). Plus - we’ll need slightly stronger weapons for when stronger enemies are present in the Caribbean!
 
With all due respect, I still think that 5 skills on one sword is too much, even for a legendary. Look at the other legendaries - they dont have that many skill boosts. The Heart of PDF is the only one with 4 boosts, and thats not even in the game currently.

If either the Brawl or Parry were removed, it'd be fine. Or maybe there'd be two branches - one with the parry boost and one with the brawl boost, idk.
 
I love the grenades, but think the damage should stay at 10, considering how much damage they already do. They should only have improved attributes that could possibly enhance the damage, such as long volley or throw boost, or a boost to one of the grenade types.
I personally believe that there should be different values that are representative of the weapons class (rare/famed/legendary) - which is why I think that the damage dealt needs to be brought way down. They’re too overpowered, so an overhaul when it comes to grenades is required to ensure the gameplay remains fresh, familiar, and challenging. This will allow for more grenade-related content to arrive to the shores of TLOPO.

I want the normal grenades to be like the crude cutlass compared to the new grenades to come.

I mean, I would love new grenades, but wouldn't like to see a grenade nerf. Perhaps these new grenades could have only improvements to skills like ignore pain or toughness, while keeping the same damage as the base grenade. Just an idea.

With the Sultan's Scimitar, the quantity of the boosts doesn't really matter as long as the weapon itself is balanced and not too overpowered. There shouldn't be a limit to skills just cause other legendaries have certain skills. If we were to compare legendaries, the other legendaries lack in the amount of skills but make up for it in the strength of the skills they offer. As long as the weapon is balanced, there shouldn't be restrictions. The general maximum would be 4-5 skills.

At the end of the day, POTCO's development was full of flaws - so following the exact same steps of the previous developers isn't the best way to go. It's always good to be inventive.
