People are really nice in this game!

Hide both their names. Don't you love when plays FOLLOW you around and kill everything until you change channels? They followed me all over not just in the gold room. Gotta love the friendly players in this game. Telling me to "kick rocks" and "gg we mandatory" oh and who could forget "I'm 11 I can do this all day". 5 Star community. I'm sure they were just protecting me from being killed. Anyway I afked for 20 minutes and they gave up to find someone else to bully.

Ahoy @Horror101,

Unfortunately, there is nothing that dictates otherwise. The Legend of Pirates Online has no explicit guidelines against prioritizing a player's loot spot, and there are people like this that will unfortunately take over the spot you're at without a word to the wind. You are much better off actively switching oceans than attempting to play with players like this.

I'm sure you are already aware, but trolls tend to feed off of the frustration of other players by griefing them, or taunting them via the chat. Unfortunately, no online game is perfect and there will be players like this regardless of what community you decide to be apart of. With that being said, I hope you are enjoying your time back to TLOPO other than this incident.

If you have any other questions regarding the guidelines of The Legend of Pirates Online, you are free to PM me, or to read them here.

Fair Seas,

This was nice to read when I woke up. :)

There are always gonna be people like this, don’t let em get to ya.

Should have reported them. We all know...that keeps them from misbehaving in the future.

Well said.

Your best bet is to switch servers and avoid “feeding” the trolls. In the future, if you believe that something violates the Terms of Service, please file a report in-game and we will take a look at it.

Problem becomes, there are times a troll is NOT feed but still...they seem to come up with some idea or way to become a huge pain in someone's life.

This can happen regardless of reporting frenzy (and, it usually does).

So sorry this happened to you. We all know other pirates will come to the area we are in from time to time. That is to be expected but when they are rude and inconsiderate I wish something could be done. Hope you have better luck from this point forward.

I'm pretty sure we have an exact thread like this. No acknowledgement at all works the best for me. Just go about my biz like they are invisible.

Why are you hiding their names? I think you should put them so everyone can know to avoid them. I have a similar story. a few months ago I was looting in the gold room and two people started throwing grenades to do the floating loot glitch and I could not get the loot. I reported them and I can see mods didn't do anything to them.

To answer your question, it's policy/s.o.p./a rule/generalized guideline. All things held equal, the textbook logic/reason is this:
  • anti-name+shame > accountability+warning
There have been exceptions.

How come you AFK'd for 20 minutes? I find it best to switch servers and be at a new loot spot in, like, 2 minutes.

It's unfortunate trolls exist in every game I know of, but fortunately they don't represent most players.
Because I didn't work that day. I had all day to game, and I'm very stubborn. I don't let trolls like that get under my skin. I just came back to this game after like a 8 month break and that's the first thing I run into in an empty channel while farming legionaries. I know I can cc easy and there are tons of dead channels. I just thought more people should know about the types of players who are in this game. Maybe its part of the reason the population is stale.

Too bad we have to hide the miscreants names though.
But it's commendable as well that you took the time to do planting for old war veterans who are probably in wheelchairs.

If this is indeed what had happened to you, you shouldn't have to adjust your own game-play just because of someone else being a pain and (purposefully) being a troll. *However, sound judgement of your own is required to understand if a pirate is doing this or not versus just someone whom happen to impose innocently upon said space. (There is a stark difference).

With as niche and close-knit as it appears TLOPO has become, like POTCO, it is just "ridiculous" that the best (official) advice shared is to ignore, report, deal with it, or remove yourself entirely from misbehaving pirate. Really? Get real! *I feel such line-of-thinking only gives an adversary predictable outcome which they can use to further pursue and exploit and avoid.

People need to completely re-think and stop trying to put a bandaid on an issue which has carried over from POTCO! Hence, TLOPO needs more options for players to utilize.

I feel like maybe if you use gold room on abassa the predictable outcome is there will be players there, ones who you might not have came with. You can pursue, exploit and avoid this by not using gold room on abassa, but going to a private server if you want your looting session to be in private. I don’t see the sustenance in a post about how someone got told to kick rocks on abassa gold room. “Welcome to TLOPO”

One is fine to put themselves in front of trolls and actively do nothing to remove themselves from the situation, but don’t go off saying they hurt you afterwards... you let them!

Nobody forces anyone to be a jerk to them. People do that on their own accord. Also, what is TLOPO (and POTCO) most readily known for by the community? Is it not looting? Players will ultimately interact with one another.

In lieu of what is known (see above ^) a few others and myself propose a change in the way the game itself should accept in-game options which could work inconjunction with the outdated but standardized options of ignore/report.
