People are really nice in this game!

Nobody forces anyone to be a jerk to them. People do that on their own accord. Also, what is TLOPO (and POTCO) most readily known for by the community? Is it not looting? Players will ultimately interact with one another.

In lieu of what is known (see above ^) a few others and myself propose a change in the way the game itself should accept in-game options which could work inconjunction with the outdated but standardized options of ignore/report.

"a few others and myself propose a change in the way the game itself should accept in-game options which could work inconjunction with the outdated but standardized options of ignore/report."

I'm sorry @Shamus The Brute. While the team appreciates ideas and suggestions for new ways to tackle situations, we also have a very good knowledge of our own systems, and some ideas just would not work to fruition like you might think. That's not to discourage you from suggesting such things, however,

With as niche and close-knit as it appears TLOPO has become, like POTCO, it is just "ridiculous" that the best (official) advice shared is to ignore, report, deal with it, or remove yourself entirely from misbehaving pirate. Really? Get real! *I feel such line-of-thinking only gives an adversary predictable outcome which they can use to further pursue and exploit and avoid.

I will state what I stated previously. We DO NOT ban players for attempting to raid another player's looting spot. It makes no sense, and it isn't something (I personally feel) that should be reportable. Yes, it can be frustrating for everyone to have another player raid your looting spot. Staff have no "safe channels" to be able to loot privately, so we're also at that same mercy if someone wishes to be unwieldy.

People need to completely re-think and stop trying to put a bandaid on an issue which has carried over from POTCO! Hence, TLOPO needs more options for players to utilize.

Regardless of what systems are thought up by the players, this will not change the fact that the TLOPO Terms of Service simply do not cover this. Trolls exist regardless of what moderation circumstance looks like in front or behind the scenes, and I promise you that it won't change.

Where did I say players should be banned for encroaching upon one's loot spot? Also, does TLOPO value the voice of the very people whom believe and support TLOPO? If so, please take a peek at this thread:

Is TLOPO h_bent on taking any ideas expressed on this forums as just "kind gestures" and not anything else nor otherwise? You know, actual players/community supporters have a stake too in all of this - not just TLOPO.

I never stated that you explicitly gave an opinion regarding the banning of players taking loot spots, however, it does not change the fact that no Moderation system modifications will change the team's ideology on such topics.

Secondarily, No. We rely on the opinions of ALL players, regardless of their support or dismissal of the game, its staff, etc. We do our level best to view, respond to (albeit not through the official crew account here on PiratesForums save for some responses) and keep all ideas that will benefit the game's integrity and future in mind.

I however refuse to derail this thread. You are entirely welcome to PM me here @Shamus The Brute if you wish to discuss such things. I will not be responding to any further posts. Thank you.

Neither will I...

I'm surprised that taking over a loot spot is being equated with the deliberate and sometimes systematic abuse of another player, which includes but is not restricted to verbal bullying. I understand that 'harassment' is a breach of the Terms of Service, but I also understand (not from personal experience) that reports of such breaches can go unheeded. I have a particular circumstance in mind where a guild member, a vulnerable young woman with disabilities was badly taunted in a way that caused her significant distress. It is all very well to simply say to switch servers, but trollers can be manipulative and distressed players may not always be in a frame of mind to take successful avoidant action. We are all aware of some tragic outcomes that have resulted from online bullying and I'm sure that TLOPO staff are serious minded enough to accept that they have responsibilities in this area

They're trolls who don't get enough attention in real life so they resort to getting it in TLOPO. IMO they SHOULD be punished. Nobody should have to go to another server and go all the way back to their loots spot because of trolls. Should have made their names visible too so we can shame those clowns.

Just because someone may deserve a punishment doesn't mean that we can go outside of the system and take punishment into our own hands.

When somebody is the judge the jury and the executioner alot gets lost in bias and in the end innocent bystanders will wind up worse off than the people who actually deserve the punishment.

I would like to say that we have gotten carried away not just one time... but we believe in this game and we don't "know what we would do with out it".... so lets carry on : )

Naming and shaming is against our terms of service.

I disagree and fully think they deserve shaming. People should face consequences for their actions. When you create a consequence free environment like this, it only encourages them to keep doing it. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Not allowing them to be shamed only encourages their behavior.

Thing is, by not doing anything, you're punishing the victim instead of the troll. Because trolls are allowed to do this, the victim has to teleport to another server and go all the way back to their looting spot again. So you're technically already punishing someone, the innocent person. You're just giving trolls a good reason to keep doing what they do. In their mind, it's "HA, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN I CAN KEEP DOING IT LOL NOBODY WILL DO ANYTHING". Many other online games have rules against harassing and trolling people, why can't TLOPO? Sounds to me like the mods are just friends with some of these trolls and don't want to give them any sort of punishment to their buddies.

There are rules and you can find them here.

If naming and shaming were allowed it would only be used and abused by the trolls. It is not hard at all to alter chat logs and publicly set someone up to be crucified by the community.

It may not seem like it but the mods are doing their best and are looking for ways to improve the system. I believe that more can definitely be done but this is not the way to do it

Couldn't agree more. Thank you.

Read my thread thoroughly, for I remain in agreement with you. The "intent" though must be right (or else it becomes what 'everyone else' fears it is; an excuse to bully someone online. Both you and I are proponents, I believe, of anything but bullying [for we wouldn't be prompt to feel this way if bullying itself was not an issue]).

Hide both their names. Don't you love when plays FOLLOW you around and kill everything until you change channels? They followed me all over not just in the gold room. Gotta love the friendly players in this game. Telling me to "kick rocks" and "gg we mandatory" oh and who could forget "I'm 11 I can do this all day". 5 Star community. I'm sure they were just protecting me from being killed. Anyway I afked for 20 minutes and they gave up to find someone else to bully.
People gonna do what people gonna do. Deals with it, move on, etc.
