It was just an idea, nothing too intricate. It would be cool to be able to get pets. like monkeys and parrots! Of course pets that a pirate would have! They could offer abilities like assisting in battles :pirate duel:(inflicting a few points of damage) , or picking up loot for you:treasure:. Or just as a fellow to follow you around. :parrot: Either way I thought it would was an idea worth sharing. Thank you! I hope it gets considered!

I remember there was something like this when potco was closing down, there was a dog and a dire wasp redeem code that when entered would give a potion that could summon the pet. You could also summon a pet chicken after completing the black pearl quest. It didn't attack or anything though, but it was still pretty cool!

Ah yeah I remember those :D

Interesting idea! However, I personally don't really want the pets to become relied on for combat purposes such as how the companions are used in SWTOR. I think the occasional attack such as a monkey throwing dust and stunning the enemy would be cool, but I would like it to be random as well or not used often in battle. Really great idea though mate :D

Yea wouldn't want it to be like the POTCO version of SWTOR where I'm level 28 fighting a level 33 OP boss because my companion helped me progress quickly, in the same way that you wouldn't want to be fighting Darkheart at level 20 because of your OP parrot leading the way

Oh yeah! Thats what I had in mind but I didn't completely word it properly. I wouldn't want to have it as you order the pet to do an attack. It would just do it on its own but not very often. For the amount of damage it does I wasn't sure of. I was thinking it could be a set amount that doesn't change, like maybe 1 to 4 damage points. I was also thinking maybe it could increase as your pet leveled up? But I thought it would be too much of a battle reliance. OR it could adjust based on the enemy because 4 points would be more helping to a level 1 enemy than to a level 50 enemy. Just ideas. I wouldn't want the pet to be too much relied on because I feel it wouldn't be true to the pirate life.

Some damage seems like a pretty neat idea, but then again, it's bordering "combat pet" territory ya know? I personally think that pets should be desired based on what the pet actually is say a dog or a crab and so on, instead of its combat abilities or usefulness. Maybe a random stun ability that all the pets have but with different animations with each pet would be pretty cool, but that also borders the combat pet realm depending on how you look at it. If the pets were to have an ability, I think it should be the same for all, whatever that ability may be. However, this only just my opinion :D

Oh yes, I like the stun idea! I completely forgot about stunning! I would much rather have that than damage abilities. I understand and agree with the "combat pet" territory thing.
I also brought up how maybe they could pick up loot for you to save time? But I guess sometimes you might not want to pick it up if its not worth it.
So I think my favorite idea so far is to have the pets all have the ability to stun randomly, without damage points.

The Idea of pets is an intriguing one though what would that do? It would take a good deal of work to orchestrate. Balancing damage, health, code, though i would love to see it into the game at a later point!! Love the idea.

Oh, I thought of it as a later added on feature, I felt that if I didn't share it now I would forget all about it. It could be added on after the game has been stable and the original aspects of the games are implemented.

This would be a great idea for an update later in the game! Pets like: Wolves, Dogs, Monkeys, Tigers, Iguanas, any type of bird, Panthers, Jaguars, and possibly crocodiles. The options for updates can go even future then that and possibly have aquatic animals as well. Things like Sharks, Manta rays, Large fish, or possibly a dolphin would be really cool.

I would like this only if it was purely aesthetic. Having played MMOs that didn't have pets and then implemented pets that assisted in battle, it completely changed the way the game was played and made the game substantially easier. That game is now struggling to create balanced content because of the way pets were implemented, yet due how it was put into the game, they can't take them out with severe backlash, especially from those who paid money for an advantage. I don't want to see that happen to this game, please no pets partaking in combat. I wouldn't mind having a pet parrot aesthetically though!

Oh yes, I understand. As I read more feedback from the thread, I agree on your concern. I agree that it would change the game too much. And I would want the animals to be animals true to pirates or the islands. Like parrots, dogs, monkeys, chickens, pigs, cats (cats were actually kept on ships to eat the mice) . Honestly i feel that it would be strange to the game to have like tiger and lions and large animals not true to islands and pirates

I like your pet ideas, although.. I feel that adding pets like Panthers, jaguars, and tigers would be a bit strange to the game. I always felt that pirates was more of a 'realistic' game. Like I know zombies and stuff aren't real but thats what pirates already includes. Sorry if it doesnt make sense. Thank you though!

I think it's not so much supernatural beings that don't make sense, as they were quite prevalent in the movies, but creatures such as panthers and jaguars do exist, and their habitat is well-known, and well-known to not be on these islands in the Caribbean. It breaks any sense of immersion that the game has when you come across one IMO.
