Darkslinger

Notorious Pirate
Option 1 - When imprisoned by the EITC or Navy, a Pirate branding appears on the characters wrist/face causing all enemies under 'his majesty's service' to attack on sight. This may be used to add another new concept to the game where Wanted signs are placed on notice boards inside taverns such as The Faithful Bride showing the pirate's name and reward for capturing said pirate. Bounty hunters (other online pirates) may appear and attempt to attack the player or sink their ship. This is where crews come in handy. As a wanted pirate, you must depend on your crew as well as your skills to survive. The longer you stay on the wanted list, the more infamous you are.

Option 2 - Pirate Branding tattoo.

Option 3 - None of the above.

Edit: Branding is removable if pirate pays their own bounty off. Brandings may differ in severity depending on the pirate's actions.

I mean, I get that we are playing in a virtual game, but you can't really reverse a branding. I'd say maybe some sort of "Wanted" Posters, or a land bounty system like we experience on sea. I don't hate your idea, I really love it. Just a little tweaking with it in my opinion.

I get what you mean, I just like how the pirate branding looks (hence why this idea came along). You're right, the pirate branding can be added as a tattoo option with the bounties being set on those who have wanted posters.

I like the idea of having the "Wanted" posters. I think the only problem would be finding t he person across all the different that will eventually be in the game. So, would the "Wanted" poster only be available on one specific server, or would it transcend to every server, effectively ensuing a manhunt. If it was just on one server, maybe after a certain amount of time has passed, like maybe a week or so, the person who is wanted can go back to that server without having to constantly watch their back.

I like your timing idea and agree with your server concerns. Another problem may be people logging off or trying to break the game on purpose to avoid the process. Also, whoever survives the manhunt may gain rewards in return for them putting up with loads of angry pirates running after them and surviving the process.

I do not support this at all. Players should not be forced into PvPing.

The person can pay off their bounty. It's not a polished idea, so we still don't know to whom the bounty applies. It may apply to a specific set of pirates.
So you're forcing them to pay for no reason? The way you're describing this idea, it seems like they would have to pay a lot of money for no reason and for no reward, because this same amount of money would have to be enough to get someone to track them down.

As I said - it's not a polished idea, which is why I'm open to more suggestions regarding on-land bounty hunting. The idea, to myself, is interesting - having wanted posters inside taverns and bounty hunting for rewards seems like an interesting addition to the game.

Maybe it could be toggled on and off on whether or not you wanted to participate in the bounty hunting/reward thing so it wouldn't be forced on anyone, but you wouldn't be able to turn it off once you had already been marked out as a bounty/hit.
