Pirates Book Club

Captian Fear

Pirate Master
:ahoy:Hi there mates! Are you a fan of Pirates? Can you read? If answer yes to any of those questions, you might consider joining a pirate themed book club!

Don't look at me like that.
Yes I know some pirates can't read but I think we here at the fourms are more cunning than cutthroat. I will pick the book for each month. Some may be part of the Pirates universe or some may be like Treasure Island and other classics.

Please Note:
These books will have a broad range. This mean some may be suitable for all ages and some for 13+. For this first book it will be for everyone.

This book for this month is A.C. Crispin's The Price of Freedom. This novel tells the life of young Jack Sparrow and how the Black Pearl came to be. This is a must read for any Pirates fan.

We will talk about this book by Sept. 5th. If you don't finish by then, you can always come back to the thread and talk about it when yoou finish, even if it's months later.

I am open to other suggestions about books you would like to disscuss. What do you think? Love it? Hate it? Post below, let me know!

Twenty-five-year-old Jack Sparrow is a clean-cut merchant seaman pursuing a legitimate career as a first mate for the East India Trading Company. He sometimes thinks back to his boyhood pirating days, but he doesn’t miss Teague’s scrutiny or the constant threat of the noose. Besides, he doesn’t have much choice—he broke the Code when he freed a friend who had been accused of rogue piracy, and he can no longer show his face in Shipwreck Cove.
When Jack’s ship is attacked by pirates and his captain dies in the altercation, he suddenly finds himself in command. The wily sailor’s skillful negotiations with the pirate captain—who turns out to be a woman from his past—result in a favorable outcome that puts Jack in line for an official promotion.
After making port in Africa, Jack is summoned by Cutler Beckett, who makes him captain of a ship called the Wicked Wench. Beckett gives Jack an assignment. He has heard a legend about a magical island named Zerzura whose labyrinthine bowels are said to contain a glorious treasure. Beckett suspects that one of his house slaves, a girl named Ayisha, is from Zerzura.

For those of you who don't know after the Wicked Wench sank, Davy Jones raised it from the depths and Sparrow Colored it all black and renamed it the Black Pearl.
