Pirates Online - Ideas / Concepts

Navy Eitc Ship brigs
New ships for pirates
Gold capacity +500k
The reason there not doing this is the budget they have and they focus on toontown -_-

My idea I sent in was this:

Deck Hand (Formally Member) - No role to play

Veteran - Recruiting Guild Members

Officer - Recruiting and demoting of Guild Members

Co-Guild Master - Recruiting, demoting and Booting of Guild Members (including taking over as Guild Master in the event of the Guild Master being terminated or leaving the guild or Game)

Guild Master - all current roles currently available

I'm posting this list here moreover as a matter of showing the potential this game had and still could have. I also encourage you to post your ideas no matter how small or off-center. At some point, once the compilation reaches a saturation point, I will turn it into a document that I can email or link for Disney. After all, you never know.

Eliza, if I were you, I would copy and paste all your great ideas to the email, and email them on the 5th (last stop) at the upcoming Revive Potco Event. The 5th stop is intended to submit ideas and suggestions on how to make Potco a better game and how it could give us better gaming experience. If you email them 3 times on those 3 series, the game developer would have plenty reminder of what they could be working on.

I suggest each one of you who have come up with great ideas here emailing them on the 5th stop on each series at the upcoming Revive Potco Event as well! :pirates:

I must say this list is very well organized and is something I would love to see the game have. Idk how I could possibly add to the list, but one thing is for sure, I am not at all impressed by Ship Customization.... I am a very graphic person and to me when Customization for ships came out, it made me feel happy.... then it got me mad....
Here's why:
  1. You have to go around plundering specific materials - Ok so, some of you arent like me where often I find myself unable to get a crew and end up soloing. Now when you try and solo against these Bounty Hunters, often times you find yerself in Davy Jones' Locker. Not fun. When customization comes to mind I picture colourful hulls, not necessarily armored hulls. This obviously won't be fixed.... :cursing:
  2. There is a small amount of hulls you can choose from - When you are like me, it gets you very ticked off that every 5 ships, it feels like people have your ship's look. You only have 6 types to choose from in which to get to them there are only 3 paths. And let us all be honest, unless there were more colours to choose from on each path.... they all look rather bland.... So 6 types. How to fix this for me: Give me a wide range of hull designs for when I am going up a path (Cargo, Armor, Speed) and then different colour combinations rather than straight up blue for Speedy Hulls. Blech. I get the idea blue signifies speed but I am a rebel and so are pirates. We do not like rules and limitations thank you very much :parrot: On top of that, when you get to the:cool: Ultra Awesome  Hulls Ranks IV + You should be able to customize your broadsides as well.
  3. Not the right Loot - Okay okay, I get the idea POTCO. You want me to be on the game more. But does it really have to be for so long so I can get this just 1 material of a small amount but instead get 948768939473476846 of pine? I know, I know. Hello Sparky, knock knock who's there?, you can not just look into a ship with magicalness.... BUT YOU CAN! Easy fix: Finding Ship "Manifestos". Ok so we all know you are going to be in for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong ride trying to get that nice Iron you need for your S&B Rank VI so badly. Why waste your time out there trying to get it when on the way you sink a few ships and you get "manifestos" of what Hunters carry/have on their ships (another neat thing is instead of collecting plunder from ship's you sink, you collect debris that become materials.) so you know whether or not you should keep going/if able to choose a ship (For Example instead you have all these Hunters patrolling) to get that Iron. Of course if Mickey Mouse the Blind Disney would like to throw in a challenge, they would make sure the Killyaded is not always full of Pine.
  4. The only real customizable thing are the sails - Here we go. Sails. Ah. Yeah um I like sails and all but lets face it:It is the only part you can truly customize. Even then I find some things wrong with it. For Example, your sail can only be 1 solid colour..... BOOOORING! Come on really? And the hunters get stripes! Stripes I say! If Stripes were to be added, I would add the ability to choose which colours are on your sails should you choose stripes. Along with that, I would make all sail colours the same price because I do not see how they can differ. I am pretty sure not every 1 in 4 ships had red and blue stripes like the Cutter Shark in real history :/
  5. Name - Bold says it all. You have to choose a preset name. That's fun. I did not know every 5 in 50 ships had Barnacle or Red in it. Hmmmm.... We should be able to type in our own ship name and send it off to Disney (so they can, like with our pirate name, approve it). I mean I did not know there were about 80 other Golden Queen's out there!

:pirate ship:

Reyes,

I fully understand your issues with Ship Customization and for the most, a majority of players were let down in the limitations of the model being used.

But, you have to see it from the Disney programmer angle. In my mind, I compare it to that scene in Apollo 13 when the engineers dump a bunch of parts on a table. One says, "This is what's in the capsule. You have to make an air filter system out of these parts. That's it."

Disney had already established the sailing system. Ships has three stats, Hull, Armor and Sails (aka Speed) and had values for broadsides and sails. And to prevent pirates from setting myriads of combinations of stat values etc, a set of static ones were made based on the hull type and stat. Bottom line is, the system we got is what they had to work with. It's the air filtration system built from a capsule full of loose rocket parts.

Aside from the mini-games and Raven Cove's cruel hints that quests could actually be done with menu system, everything in the game is being done so it's quick and easy and doesn't overwhelm the already outmoded engine. I'd love to be able to buy cannons over the counter and mount a mix of furies and explosives etc. But, those parts aren't on the table.

However, I fully agree the name thing is ridiculous.Okay, here is the document as it stands now.

I'm still taking ideas etc.

Just some very brief ideas ~

Trading, more story quests, more islands, a pirate home, cabins we can go into, treasure chest banks, more higher level enemies, to see the QAR more regularly, maybe some other random events, be able to boot people off my ship, better chat or at least a larger more accurate dictionary, a larger more complex pvp dungeon and a few more of the characters from the movies, who wouldn't like to see a few mermaids here and there?

Plus a more open explorable world space, perhaps being able to forage for food or potion ingredients.

I sometimes think it would be good to be able to sail to Singapore too.

/agree  - but I think most of your ideas are already covered Kat Truewalker sooo let's just hope for the best or least they can do...[/quote]

Well I do see what you are pointing out and I must say while, okay some things seem a little ridiculous and hard to do over, but I do believe there is some sort of way for the least you could in fact change the design but not necessarily the the speed, hull, broadsides, cargo capacity, etc. Like, for example, having the design (look) of a Fortune Hunter, but the actual stats of it separate. In other words it would look like a Fortune Hunter but have the speed, hull, broadsides, cargo capacity, etc. of a Storm Chaser. I am not sure if I made that clear or am just somewhere in Lalalandia. I would think that one for the least could be able to pick and choose what your ship looks like but then instead of "I want Fury broadsides and Cheetah Speed" that can not be done after what they have done. If I am not exactly clear please do tell. As I said, I can see what you mean from the Disney Developer's perspective and it does in fact make sense.

I hope it's not too late to post still but I was just talking with my buddy who's a POTCO fan and he told me some more ideas I could add for him here because he doesn't have internet. Soo here they are:

  • Music Sheets: More music for the pubs or Music sheets that can be found in loot, but very very rare. Sheets obtained from playing cannons of the deep will not be able to be looted.
  • Plague: Once a month a couple pirates get infected, weakening there health and damage and if they stand around another pirate long enough, they get infected as well.
  • PvP Games: king of the hill and capture the flag.
  • Message in a Bottle: click on ofline pirates and able to send them a message to read when they get back online.

New legendary weapons or make the free legendary weapons available from looting or plunderingShip of the line: Available for 200,000 gold requires level 20 sailing

Gold: Maximum gold to be capped at 375,000

Churches: Pirates can go to the church to get married (currently pirates ask other pirates to marry them in game)Quests on Islands: A special set of quests which involves visiting the old Tortuga, Port Royal and Padres Del Feugo

GMs: More appearence of the GMs to interact with pirates and maybe have some wars going on again like the Big Bang or EITC Black Guard and Casa De Muertos guild appearingDocking at Islands: Able to dock at the pier, currently only Jolly Rogers Ship can do this

Ship viewing from Pier: Able to view ships out at sea

Player viewing on ships: Able to see who's on other players ships from your own (used to be available)

I realize as I post this that with Pirates Support being relocated to their Canadian location, it's very possible that no further game development may ever occur. But, still after compiling so many thoughts and ideas on what could make Pirates Online a better experience, I felt the need to create this compendium list. I'm sure a lot of these ideas you've heard of, talked about or even thought of yourself.

I'm posting this list here moreover as a matter of showing the potential this game had and still could have. I also encourage you to post your ideas no matter how small or off-center. At some point, once the compilation reaches a saturation point, I will turn it into a document that I can email or link for Disney. After all, you never know.

Pirates Online - Ideas / Concepts
Game Play
  • Teleport Permission - Either an Accept Teleport Yes / No - OR an overall check box like the Dinghy Options (Friends, Guild, Crew etc.) to limit who can teleport to you. Could be very helpful in preventing stalking, etc.
  • Visible Ship Crews - Previously, it was possible to see a ship's crews and chat between nearby crews. It was also possible to use special cannon rounds against NPC and SvS ship crews.
  • Item Trading - Being able to swap items or an item for gold will be the foundation for an in-game economy and motivate players to either locate objects to swap or raise gold to buy what they want.
  • Item Crafting / Customizing - Using Smithing Skills, pirates could craft existing items from materials and/or crude items. Creating new weapons out of whole cloth is very much impossible, but using crafting skills to improve an existing common or crude to an existing rare or even famed weapon is not out of the question.
  • Ship Repair Icon – In addition to icons for cannon or helm, see who’s repairing.
  • Walk the Plank - The ability to Boot someone off a plunder ship similar to the option in SvS. Though this could be open for abuse, any captain who would jettison his crew would likely not get any takers on the next run or find themselves reported for abuse.

Character Ideas
  • Captain's Cabin or House to allow for a display of trophies and extra storage of weapons and garb.
  • Personal Totems - Leave them to TP back to a favorite place. Could be earned via a Quest.
  • Achievements - Sinks, Kills, etc. to earn special awards or access to special merchandise (like with SvS). Sinking or killing one of everything or all the bosses, surviving an invasion, tackling the Queen Anne, etc. Perhaps a 'title' the player could choose to display above their name once they earn an achievement. (Ex. - Kill 10 Rage Ghosts, earn the title "Ghost Hunter", etc.)
  • Pets - Dog, Pig, Gator, Monkey, Bird (All of these animals already exist in-game). Each could have its own special ability or some form of attack against NPCs.

Garb
  • Special clothing items could grant abilities or enhance skills (A magic hat or faster running shoes, etc.)
  • French / Spanish SVS inspired outfits
  • Native (Islander) garb
  • Short jackets for women (bolero style like Angelica wore in Pirates 4)
  • Sleeveless shirts for women
  • Flat shoes or sandals
  • Masks (or Face Tattoos that resemble masks) - Even if just for holidays.
  • Eye Patches
  • New Jewelry (Anklets and Bracelets, Necklaces)
  • Gloves or Gauntlets
Emotes

  • Instead of removing potentially abused emotes, simply ban suspended players from using them.
  • Is it possible to finish animations for all of the current ones? Some of the animations already exist (EX: /SEARCH).
  • Eye Roll - Head back, eyes roll up in exasperation (/eyeroll)
  • Facepalm - Hand to face, shakes head. (/facepalm)
  • Shrug - Shoulders up, arms out (/shrug)
  • Blush - Red cheeks, head turns away (/blush)
  • I Have an Idea - Raised index finger and an "AHA" expression. (/idea)
  • Come Here - Curling finger gesture (/come)
  • Stop - Arm out, hand up (/stop)
Skills

  • No more new skills without a quest to earn them.
  • Blacksmith - Customize Swords and Daggers
  • Dancing - Pirate can add new dances to their repertoire.
  • Fisticuffs - Martial Arts Skill for hand-to-hand combat.
  • Gunsmith - Customize Firearms
  • Gypsy - Customize Voodoo Objects
  • Musical Instrument - Pirate can play a flute, guitar, drums, violin or squeezebox.
  • Shipwright - Reduce upgrade costs or speed up repairs
  • Tailor - Customize or color clothes
Weapons

  • Axes - Treat like a dagger, swing or throw.
  • New Swords - Various blades from around the world could be added. To maintain simplicity, each new type would fall under the existing classes (Cutlass, Sabre, and Broadsword)
Rapiers (Sabre)

Ninjato (Sabre)

Scimitars (Broadsword)

Katana (Cutlass)

Chinese Jian or Dao (Cutlass)

  • Spears / Pole Arms - For Royal Navy or Native enemies
Land Adventure Ideas

New Enemies
  • Island Natives - The cannibalistic Pelegosto tribe including Pelegosto Headhunter, Pelegosto Chieftain, Pelegosto Amazon, and Pelegosto Hunter.
  • Undead Staff Users - Undead Shaman, Undead Sorcerer (Uses More Powerful Staff Hexes), Undead Necromancer (Uses Staff and can summon other undead to protect themselves.
  • Animals - Giant Spiders, Jungle Cats, Monkeys, Snakes (Could throw things
  • Mermaids - Just off-shore, they could throw weapons or attack pirates who happen to be in the water.
  • Bandits - Villains from the Cannon Defense mini-game, basically masked pirates
  • Bosses - Should be able to call other enemies to help them. Only El Patron does this currently.
  • Raid Bosses - Random tougher bosses could crop up from time to time, like the Queen Anne did at sea. This would add a creative quality to when and where they could pop u
Merchants

  • Could the Ghost Merchants on Raven's become available after finishing the quest? Like Madam Zigana could actually sell tonics, etc.
  • Could merchants be added to Kingshead in the Armory Area
  • Random Merchants offering various items on special (ammo, weapons, etc.)
New Islands

  • Pelegosto (with rope bridges and a bone cage mini-game?
  • Isla Cruces - A new PVP location (the windmill)
  • Shipwreck Cove - The Nine Pirate Lords could have quests.
  • White Cap Bay - Mermaids?
  • A Ghost Island (Isla De Muerte?) - Only randomly appears for a short time.
  • Singapore - Could only be reached via teleport though.
Existing Islands

  • Kingshead - Finish the closed off areas, restore the secret cave, add merchants and NPCs
  • Raven's Cove - NPCs could become merchants after finishing quest.
Dig Spot Reward

  • In some cases, while on a quest a pirate can hit various Dig Spots and get a few coins while they search for something specific. Random rewards for trying various Dig Spots might be a pleasant surprise or being able to use a Dig Spot to hide extra treasure items.

Random NPCs and Quests
  • Add more NPCs offering more recurring quests. Besides 'kill this' types, 'sink this' or 'go here' or 'see this person' random mini-quests could be offered with a random loot pouch instead of just gold.
  • Maybe more random 'celebrity' NPCs other than Jack Sparrow to give quest
Sea Adventure Ideas

Ship Voodoo
  • Doll hexes - Increase a cannoneer's range and damage or temporarily boost Helmsman's sailing skills.
  • Staff Hexes - Ship protection, increased wind speed, better plunder or increased broadside damage.

Fleets
  • Undead Fleet - Before an invasion, a fleet of Jolly's warships could start making their way to the invasion site. This would give players a chance to do both parts or have a two-fold battle at once.

Ship Crew Stations
  • Pressing H wouldn't just show your ship status, but would display circles for cannons and repair stations and which ones are being used.
Fishing

  • New Fish -

Sailing Weather
  • Elements like Fog, Rain, and Wind can effect a ships performace but also combat strategy, especially in SVS where the ship with wind on their side can gain the tactical high ground etc. Placing a Wind Gauge below or beside the Compass would help a captain keep track. Fog could be replicated using the same technique already employed to create mist (swamps) or dust (Kingshead).

Events

New Invasions
  • Navy Raids, EITC Hostile Takeovers or even Cave Area invasions could be added to replicate the intensity of the Jolly Roger events, but with new twists. The NAVY and EITC events add a complication of being unable to use firearms during an invasion.
Random Major Bosses

  • Currently only small bosses are random. A major name boss popping up places like Tormenta, Raven's Cove, etc. would motivate players to jump into the fight.

Random Ship Bosses
  • Granted we have fleets and the Queen Anne, but how about adding the HMS Endeavour, the HMS Dauntless, the Flying Dutchman as well.

Mini-Games

Tavern Games
  • Liar's Dice - The great game of chance and bluffing from Dead Man's Chest
  • Dagger Darts - Use throwing knives to hit stationary and moving targets.
  • Coin Bounce - Bounce a coin into your mug for points
  • Arm Wrestling - Reaction, Timing and control movements would determine the winner.
Guild Items

  • Guild Bank - Members could donate and withdraw or borrow from a central depository. The GM and Officers would control the distribution. This would require Trading.
  • Guild Hall - A building that only allows members of the same guild to enter. In effect, this creates a private room.
  • Guild Achievements – Similar to player achievements once a guild has so many members or accomplishes tasks or rank.

You are really creative and I support every single one of these things!

I really want to have a guild hall because sometimes the taverns on Tortuga don't seem to be more "Guildish" and it would be a really cool place for guild members to hang out instead of just glaring on the harbor of Tortuga, Abassa all the time.

When you look at POTCO on the islands and everything it doesn't really give you that welcoming feeling anymore but with this guild hall it would truly bring in that feeling again.I also suggest that we bring in Commodore Norrington and Governor Swann as well into the game :D! and bring in those Navy Blue Coats as well :)

Oh yes when I was watching POTC 4 (Stranger Tides) and they had this London scene. It would be really cool if they can just bring that into POTCO including the London guards.

Churches: Pirates can go to the church to get married (currently pirates ask other pirates to marry them in game)

Probably won't complain if this happens, but I'm kind of iffy on the idea of marrying on an online game, especially one like this...I don't think many pirates marry each other, savvy?
